The Ticket To Beat Liverpool

By Mike Owen :  31/07/2010 :  Comments (9) :

WE'RE expecting a very good turn-out at Goodison on Wednesday night for Everton FC v CD Everton, but some of us in the Ruleteros Society are a little worried at the number of fellow Blues who have told us how much they're looking forward to the game, but have not bought their tickets yet; they'll be buying them on the night.

Eh lads, the queues are likely to be longer than you think... and not every section of the ground will be open.

So, we are urging you to buy your £10 or £3 tickets today, or tomorrow. The quicker the tickets are bought, the more chance we have in the Ruleteros Society of persuading the club to open more sections. Some sections are nearing capacity.

Because do you know what we want to do? We want to beat the attendance of the Reds the following night.

Our friends over the park have one of their European nights on Thursday. Well, we've got a South American night and we want the bigger attendance.

You can do your bit, by buying your tickets in advance. You may wish to buy over the internet, possibly for the first time. Just go to the club website. You can try this link

The Everton from Chile are due to arrive Monday morning, having had an official send-off photo session a few days ago. Two of their players are injured and have been left behind by Everton manager Nelson Acosta, which is indicative of how seriously the former Chile coach is taking this game. He wants to show England the best of South American club football. And we want to give them a great Goodison atmosphere. Be there... two Evertons for the price of one.

Would it not be nice if there were 44 people from Everton Chile who came over as well (or even more!)

Would beat their ability to take 43 to a European match

I understand your worry about the attendance for the Chile game after the hard work yourself and the other Ruleteros done to get it staged.

Keep the faith and enjoy the game. I for one am really looking forward to it. Tickets bought already.

Where are all the Ruleteros going to be drinking before the match? It would be good to speak to them about the background to themselves and how they linked up to Everton Chile etc

Mike, sorry if you think I'm overdoing it. But don't you know how it is when you have family coming from abroad, and you want to get everyone round to give them a good welcome?

And some of us think there could well be a big walk-up crowd on the night and I can remember being locked out of that Brazil v Japan game at Goodison and the FA Cup replay in the 90s against Oldham, or was it Bolton? Don't want a repeat on Wednesday night.

Perhaps the 'surpass Liverpool' thing is not needed, but it's good to have a goal and they are playing the next night, and so offer a good benchmark.

David, you ask where will the Ruleteros be drinking? Well, some of us are treating it like an European away trip and will be starting on Monday night.

Go to our website www.theruleteros.com ... go to the 'contact us' and send an email with contact details. Most of our members though are real ale fans, so bring your sandals.

And if anyone's fed up hearing from us, you'll be pleased to know that after the coming week, we plan to take a vow of silence.

Mike - don't worry about promoting the match, fair play for doing it.

I've got my ticket and am looking forward to it. They seem to have closed the TB, so I'm in the Main Stand for a tenner - can't be bad!
