Match Summary

Everton's third and final game of their 2010 Pre-Season Tour Down Under was against Brisbane Roar in the Suncorp Stadium.   David Moyes again selected a reasonably strong side from the players available, with Tim Cahill off at Mikel Arteta's, wedding in Spain.

Most players wore their listed Squad Numbers, except Turner (1), Baxter (9) and Jutkiewicz.(22)

Jermaine Beckford started the game and he nearly scored inside 3 minutes when a backpass was underhit but goalie Michael Theoklitos cleared it just in time. Louis Saha seemed to have an opportunity but did not hit it strongly. Later, Saha had another chance when he powered through the defence but shot tamely at the Roar keeper and there were few other meaningful chances in the first half.

Soon after the start of the second half, Everton were ahead when Rodwell produced a delightful curling effort from just outside the box, a perfect chip over the keeper and into the top corner of the net.   Everton started to open up a little more and just before the hour mark, Osman and Coleman linked up but Osman's control was poor as he shot over the bar. Then Victor Anichebe came on in place of goalscorer Jack Rodwell.

Anichebe got in a shot on goal justt before Brisbane equalised to spoil Iain Turner's clean sheet record, when he was slow to come out and block the angles, allowing the ball to go in off the post after a shot from a narrow angle by Barbarouses.

Magaye Gueye came on in place of Bilyaletdinov for the last 20 minutes andgot the winner after some good build-up play, getting on the ned of a low deep cross from Lukas Jutkiewicz to slot home under pressure at the far post.

Anichebe missed a late chance but it didn't matter as Neville and Osman hoisted aloft yet another trophy for Moyes's Tour Boys: the gleaming 'Queensland Roars Against Racism' trophy.
