Season 2011-12
The Mail Bag

Yannick Djalo

We have been heavily linked with this guy in the past couple of years and I'm sure fees proposed to get him were in the tens of millions. He looks a good player, pacy, direct, can play right wing or striker, bit like Landon Donovan.

Now this guy had a move to Nice, and for some reason his contract is terminated. I'm not sure why, I'm sure many posters know the situation more than I do.

Basically he's free and now he's on trial with Aston Villa. Why aren't we in there?! We've been crying out for a bit of pace in the team, so seeing he's free, makes a lot of sense to get him.

It may materialise with us giving him a trial. Would be interesting to see what happens.

He may be on a 'Free' but I bet there would be a signing-on fee for him and his agent, also wages.

Maybe we should just have kept the YAK!

He will take this league by storm. I can't believe we're not in for him.

Does he track back for corners?

If not.. forget it!

I bet he'd track back for corners at EFC, because every fucking player does! It would be considered an act of insanity if Moyes was to ever leave a player outside our box while defending an opposition corner, I mean, why would you want a player or two upfield to prevent any clearances coming straight back?!?!

A decent shout. He signed after the deadline and Fifa refused to ratify the signing. Has pace to burn and would do nicely on the right.

We play ale-house Stoke tomorrow...
Drenthe and Coleman are not going to win many headers from a Stoke corner... Imagine if we left those two speedsters on the half way line for their corners...

Just think if we got him or Donovan, we could play 4-3-3, à la Chelsea, with Fellaini, Rodwell & Barkley in midfield, that would be a great side ? alright, Football Manager 2012... I know.

I've always liked Djalo since he played against us. I didn't realise he was available at all. I'd snap him up, he's exactly what we need and if he is free its an absolute no-brainer.

The Yak's just too fat and lazy, with a bad attitude etc ......

I was disappointed when we let Yakubu go and thought Moyes really messed up by not giving him a run of games after the derby last year, however, its quite well known within football that he always scores loads when he first signs for a new club, then can't be arsed and looks fat and lazy. That's exactly what a Middlesbrough fan told me when we bought him and exactly what happened. Some players need to move on and have different things to get them inspired, Yakubu seems to be an extreme example.

Unfortunately I do not think that DM will get any money this January unless we LOSE a game or two.

If we are comfortably mid-table, I reckon it will be a brinkmanship winter and hoping against hope that we have no injuries.

Gents the saying I hate is 'wake up and smell the coffee' - but wake up and smell the coffee! Pre-season Everton was a fire sale, and it was a case of no serious offer refused. Why did we sell Beckford, Yak and Arteta? ? Because someone offered the right money. Simples!

If someone would've come in with £20mill for Rodwell and /or Fellani or £15 mill for Jags, or for that matter anyone else on the playing staff, they'd be playing somewhere else;emailgate confirmed it, but to be honest we didn't realy need the smokin' gun to understand the predicament we're in.

David (14) - Ugh!!

"If someone would've come in with £20mill for Rodwell and /or Fellani or £15 mill for Jags . . "

Too true and where we're heading unless current ownership drop the selling price.

We should be trying to bring in players like this! If he's even a half-decent wide midfielder he's gona be better than Bily, Osman, Coleman or whoever else we've got (bar Drenthe). How do we pass up good bargains like this and yet spend 9 million on Bily? Let me guess it's not Moyes' fault is it?

Just wanted to know what people thought of a swap deal involving Bily + Cash for McGeady.

Think it needs to be pointed out that a 'free transfer' is not as it seems. QPR got Joey Barton on a 'free transfer' and it still cost them £10mil...dont seem that cheap to me.

Well maybe not quite £10mil, but, his agent is reported as getting £2.5mil from the deal, Barton himself a £1.5mil signing fee and the a reported salary of £80k a week over 3 years. So although the £4mil (agent and signing on fee) is probably a third of his market value, the transfer was not free...especially when you add inflated wages on top as well.
