I was just wondering what my fellow blues think about the possibilty of signing Victor.

Surely if he would be interested in signing, this would be a match made in heaven. A pacey young winger with bags of ability AND free. Could this be the man to add balance to our right hand side, with hopefully pienaar signing to play on the left. Gibson and big felli are forming a good partnership in the middle and with two decent wingers adding balance, supplying jela the opportunity to show his natural goalscoring abilities, we could really push on.

My main worry would be cahill who doesnt seem to offer anything in a way of attacking threat. Anyway I digress...

Thoughts?

I didn't realise he would be free.

Yeah, absolutely sign him up. Still a squad player if he ends up crap.

Well worth a free, but I've got one question.
Does he get back for corners?

It would be great to get him for free but i imagine we would be priced out of it wages wise. Expect Newcastle or Spurs would snap him up

If Moyes is still here what is the point of signing an attacking player - what centre halfs are available on a free?

Moses will be wanted by lots of clubs and he would be a great acquisition. A far better bet than Drenthe and he seems to be much more level headed.
Unfortunately I dont see him joining us !!

That doesn't sound right to me. He signed for Wigan in 2010 so surely his contract isn't up at the end of this season. 2 year contracts are extremely rare for young talented players. Wigan would have been risking making him into a Premier League player before seeing him walk for free. Unlikely for a team that survives on creating huge profits on relative unknowns (Valencia,Ecuadorian at Spurs whose name temporarily evades me).

If he is available, he would be an absolute replica of Drenthe (on the pitch). I've been to see Wigan a few times as I work pretty near and occasionally get free tickets. He can be fast, exciting, direct and cause panic in opposition defences. He does tend to lose his head at the vital moment - I've seen plenty of wild shots into row z or ones more likely to trouble the linesman than the keeper and he has a propensity to deliver a dreadful final ball when in a great position á la Walcott.

That said, be seems to have improved in this stuff lately from what I see of him on TV and he's young with what appears a great attitude. Perfect for us in many ways - the Champions League cartel probably won't think he's quite good enough and we can take him on without much risk. The worst that could happen is we get a Beckford size fee a year down the line.

He's not a free, he's got a year left on his deal after this season still.

And i doubt he'll be cheap either cos Martinez plays hard ball when he doesnt want to sell.

Wouldnt let Rodallega go cheaply in january even though he is out of contract this summer and said he's leaving at the end of it.

If we could get or find the money somehow then he'd be worth signing. He's a talent with plenty of potetnital still, quick, skillfull and exactly what we need out wide IMO.

We was actually in for him at the same time as Wigan but couldnt agree on how to pay the deal, we was obviously offering up very little upfront and then whatever on drip, i can remember it cos i was watching dealine day on sky sports news and that Vinny O'Connor was reporting on it.

The PE Teacher turned his nose up at Moses when he went from Palace to Wigan for a song (definitely in our price bracket at the time). The kid is fast has a reasonable shot on him and should be the kind of player we are looking at, Moyes didnt fancy him before though.

When he first went to Wigan he struggled to get into there team. It's only this season that he has found something extra.

Definitely and improvement on Coleman.

Isn't Hoilett and Blackburn on a free this summe? If we could get him. Moses and Rodelleg as well as Jelavic we may even score a few goals next year

Your right Andrew, last season he shown flashes but wasnt showing it enough,at 20 thats to be expected. He has improved a lot this season and would expect him to do again next year.

Even if he regressed he would still be 4000 miles better than Anichebe.

He isn't available on a free, he still has one year left after this season so would still cost quite a lot of money. Wigan will be looking to cash in on him if he won't sign so he will be £8-12 million you would anticipate. Spurs will be favourites to sign him!

Pointless debate:
a) he has another year left on his contract AFTER this;
b) he would stiill need a fee (albeit tribunal decided if we couldn't agree a fee) because of his age.

Pete, most clubs look to sell players when in their final year, it's only Moyes who bites his nose off to spite his face. Depending how many clubs would be interested, I don't think Moses would cost too much. I would take Rodallega on a free all day, not a fan of Diame though.

I do mean Pienaar's move to Spurs when if he had sold him in the summer he would have gone for at least 3 times the amount.Aiden if am honest I stopped being a fan of Moyes a while a go but since the Anfield derby I cant stand him and will look for any excuse to get on his back.

thought Gosling was an error over contract offer and not connected with Moyes ??

Pienaar - you cannot sell a player if he does not want to move before his contract is up. Do we know there were concrete offers before that summer which we turned down. Also it is not that bad a decision to keep a player who carried on performing well and always had a good attitude despite his impending departure.Like you Paul - Moyes frustrates me a lot but think these critisisms are a bit harsh.

Aiden i'm not sure if there was concrete offers in the summer but imo clubs need to toughen up.Moyes should have said sign the contract or you will be put on the transfer list and unavailable for games.

Pienaar would not have sat in the reserves for a year watching his Bosman pay day bonanza diminish as people forget who he is.

So he would have been left with 2 choices, sign or leave. If he decided to leave then clubs would be interested in a quality player on the transfer list.

I agree he still carried on playing well for us but £6m pound well?,which is a reasonable amount to say we lost out on by not selling in the summer.

Aiden of course you can sell a player any time you want as you hold his registration papers, the only thing to bear in mind if a sale is made that way is down to the loyalty payment written into their contract which would kick in as they hadn't requested the transfer. Moses was under contract at Palace until 2012 but they went into administration and he went to Wigan for £2.5m

Tony I agree but clubs have to draw the line somewhere. If we was talking about an average player were there was only one club intered then the price would be low but Pienaar is a class player and as soon as his name went on the list I imagine there would have been strong interest from a number of clubs, therefore keeping the fee we could demand quite high.
