Season 2011-12
The Mail Bag

Let's all have a Sing-Song!

 32 Comments: First  |  Last

Inspired by Ben Howards efforts in "Everton to Finish 4th Shock", I've followed his lead with something to welcome our new arrivals from the terraces.

Here's my effort for Denis ? sung along to the tune of Barry Manilow's "Copacabana"...

"His name was Denis - Den Stracqualursi
He was signed by Davey Moyes, to play with the Everton boys
And when he finished, he never missed it
Cus Denis was a star, never hit above the bar
And when the punches flew. The Reds were smashed in two
There was just a single goal?
But just who? scored? it?

It was Denis (DEN!), Den Stracqualursi (STRACQUALURSI!)
The hottest shot north of the Mersey (here!)
And it?s Denis (DEN!), Den Stracqualursi
Footie and passion were always the fashion
At Goodison....they fell in love?.."

Ahem...

Way down the priority list - long-term deterioration of the club is far more important issue to tackle.....

Wrap some lyrics around Kenwright out......I'll sing for that

From what you're saying, Denis could be like a new singing.

You'll have to hand out song sheets at the next game. I'll never remember all that. Good though!

Hi Mark - excellent, were a bit thin on the ground here so another Blue to swell the numbers is great.

Not sure what the most secure way of getting my mobile and email to you is....?

Maybe the editor can help....?

Either way - I'll see you at some point when you get down here.

Thanks for the name check Mike! For what it's worth I still think my song for Billy was inspired.

To the tune of Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time) by the Delfonics

Diniyar blow your mind this time, didn't I, oh
Diniyar blow your mind this time, didn't I

Diniyar do it baby... Diniyar I do it baby
Diniyar do it baby... Diniyar do it baby

Love the sentiment but when did you last hear the crowd sing at Goodison? Think there may be a few expletives flying at the next match though. I like Gavin's efforts but think the metre's not quite right in line 4. Replace "no" with "f*ck all" and it sounds better! I'd be tempted!

Would love to hear that singing out from the terraces. It could happen if Moyes had the balls to play Billy behind the striker (maybe Denis?)

How about a stirring rendition of.

Won't get fooled again. By the Who.

I particularly like the line.

"The men who spurred us on, now sit in judgemeny of our own, they've decided the shotgun sings the songs".

Not very imaginative, but it's the best my feeble brain could come up with:

Follow, Follow, Follow
Everton's the team to follow
Everybodys better than Mikel Arteta
He's the worst little spainard we know

Andy - thats a rubbish chant! It should be more like:

"Curly toes, Curly toes, These threads they curl your toes..."

Was it refering to last seasons infamous pink strip? Must be. Nice one! Well done for entering into the spirit of it things, you're mad you...
