Manolas u-turn ends proposed move

An apparent change of heart by Kostas Manolas ended David Moyes's hopes of landing the young Greek defender in a £500,000 deal today.

The 20 year-old looked set to complete his transfer from AEK Athens before tonight's deadline but it's believed he was unable to agree personal terms and the deal collapsed.

A statement from AEK president Stavros Adamidis provided confirmation: "Manolas is staying. We had told the player that if he and Everton agreed terms we wouldn't stand between them. It didn't happen."
