Merseyside united again on Hillsborough anniversary

The City's two teams may have clashed on the pitch at Wembley yesterday but back on Merseyside Everton and Liverpool were united once in more in remembrance of the Hillsborough tragedy that claimed 96 lives 23 years ago today.

Lost in the post-match analysis of the disappointment from the cup semi-final was the impeccable observance by Everton's supporters for the minute's silence for the victims where team captains Phil Neville and Steven Gerrard presented a bouquet of flowers to family members of the victims.

Everton FC also laid a floral wreath in memory of that fateful day at Anfield last night.

More than two decades on, the campaign by the families of the 96 fans who died on the Leppings Lane terrace to uncover the truth of exactly what happened that day continues.
