Gueye makes Olympic debut

Everton's Magaye Gueye came on as a second-half substitute for Senegal in their first Group A match of the 2012 Olympic Games. Senegal held the hosts Great Britain to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, and face Uruguay next on Sunday.

Game was on but I was hardly glued to it. By the lack of comments I presume I am not alone in that.

Senegal seemed a decent side (mainly in the second half and relative to GB team) so it is good that he is getting a game for them. Can't remember him making much of an impact however; hopefully he will be positively affected by the whole experience.

Came on after about an hour.Can't remember him touching the ball.

Barely touched the ball. Tried to start a fight with Taylor in defence of one of the worst tackles I've ever seen...albeit on Craig Bellamy.

I thought the Senegal team were pretty skillful but would have been lucky to finish the game with 8 men let alone 11.

Perhaps Olympic footy is based on 1970s "have it!!" football that we all remember fondly.

Was the ref a professional referee or was he drafted in from the Karate tournament??
