Naismith: exponent of the forearm smash

Everton player caught on video nasty
Steven Naismith could be in big trouble with Uefa after deliberately striking at Serbian defender with a well-executed forearm smash in Scotland's 0 - 0 draw on Saturday. His 'red mist' moment was caught on video:

It could see him banned for at least three games, possibly including Scotland's next game against Macedonia on Wednesday.

I was going to say this is NOT "The Everton Way"... but then isn't Duncan Ferguson on the training staff now?!?

Rooney did something similar at Wigan a couple of years a go and the FA did nothing.

The next Big Dunc? Oh I do hope he really is the next Duncan Ferguson – he was and always will be a legend.

I think Naismith could face a ban of about 4 games

I'm not advocating violence. It is wrong and abhorrent. It is morally and ethically repugnant and inexcusable. It is a cowardly act that devalues the entire human race regardless of creed, color, religion and social standing. He should be banned for Scotland's next game and fined.

(However, couldn't he have saved the forearm smash for Suarez in the 90th minute of a derby match when we're 3-0 up? Then followed up with a double nelson (whatever that is) to get the diving little shit squealing for mercy? Or a punch so hard that it took Suarez's teeth out , the said dentures taking one of Gerrard's eyes with them as they were trampled into the Goodison turf?)

Anyway, I can't condone Naismith's actions on the Serbian player. Nasty.
And definitely not the Everton way.

The best bit is when he throws his hands up to protest his innocence and complain about the lad going down.

I've said it a thousand times players from the UK play a different game with different rules and when we play internationals it kills us.

No excuse he deserves whatever he gets.

Bullshit. He's getting suspended for that? They both get their arms up and that Serbian's is up to impede Steven, not to protect himself.

And he wouldn't have went down that fast if Steven had slashed his throat with a knife. Absolute dive.

Forearm smash. Clicked on the video thinking I would see something.

Jesus, what's the fuss?! That's how they greet elderly relatives in Glasgow.

Tony Bellew - well done tonight...

Did you see how the Serb's face deliberately lashed out at Naismith's forearm? ... and he had the gall to fall to the pitch as to cast all limelight on our Stevie. Where was the ref?

Nothing that big a deal for me. Would love to give some of you lot that same treatment sometimes, lol.

Could he be the answer to our defensive midfield problems?

Certainly has more strength than I would have thought if he can knock a bloke in the air with a swing of the arm.

Looked like someone swatting a bothersome fly. Good old fashioned shrug off seen in Rugby matches every week. What a fuss about nothing!

If he was a Sky 4 player nothing would be said.

Yes Mark Riding @ 518, Well done 'Bomber Bellew' the true blue. Maybe Naismith was just showing the Serb how the boxing blueboy was going to end his opponents chances that night

Slap to the face and the guy of curse acts like he's been shot. Still, he can concentrate on Everton instead of these away days.

I just love watching this clip, Naismith's movement off the ball is terrific.

Obviously looking to attack the opposition.

What an odd article to put up. And "well-executed forearm smash"? If it happened one our lads then the assaulter would be the greatest bastard ever.

I think he'll go down for that.

Depends if it was Anichebe on the receiving end or not.

On the plus side; if he is banned for the mid week game, he won't pick up an injury for the Monday game.

Is this not sort of good for us? I assume he'll get suspended but only for international matches so at least he gets a rest and can carry on playing for us.

Unless I'm wrong?

Hopefully the international ban will make him not do something like that when wearing an Everton shirt.

Sinisa Mihajlovic refused to be drawn on the incident, saying only: 'This is football, not ballet.'

- Now that's brilliant.

RE #823

What a great reply – he obviously has given out as much in his career then!
