Moyes sorts out Fellaini in private

, 14 September, 23comments  |  Jump to most recent
David Moyes has drawn a line under Fellaini saying things he shouldn't “We have had a chat about it, and any disciplinary action is between me and him.”

Moyes said: “I think that what happened with Fellaini, he gets amongst international journalists and they massage his ego. Sometimes maybe players can slip out of their guard and say things they shouldn't.

“But one thing I know is the transfer window is closed, so he's not going anywhere right now."

Not exactly the most positive answer you could have given, Davie.

I really think you have to get Fellaini to state his commitment long term and the club also to staying here beyond this season.

What makes you think that is possible Paul? Or do you think everyone should just lie?

I was very pleasantly surprised when Felli signed a new deal with us last year. This summer I was therefore confident he would stay, but expected only one or two more years from him (two hopefully).

But frankly if he left for £30 million next summer, after giving us another good year – and hopefully a bloody cup, I wouldn't be too concerned, as long as the gaffer got the dosh to rejuvenate the team. We'll soon need a young CB, young RB, as well as a replacement (the Brugge player?) and a goalie. He could fund the lot, and a dash of Donovan, too.

But for now, he needs to schtum, and help win us some games.

DM can say what he likes to the mop headed one, but if the gossip columns are anything to go by, he will be gone in one of the next two transfer windows. So Felliani will have got what he wanted having had a ticking off from the ginger one. If only we had Man City's dosh.......I'd stick him out training with the Youth Team for the rest of his contract. Instead we are (not for the first time in the Sky era) victims of player power.

And now we have to suffer four months of paper talk of who wants to buy him, all totally unnecessary if the idiot had kept his mouth shut, we have seen in the past what this type of shit can do to our club with Lescott.

Let's hope he knuckles down and puts in a shift like Pienaar did before he left and then if he goes let's make sure we take someone the cleaners with his sale price.

I would just like to see what he would have to say if he picks up an injury like he did last time his dad was spouting about how good he is and that he needs a move, it all went quiet then as the club paid his wages and helped him move forward again.

Well, this puts to bed the defence of those lads defending Fellaini, saying they didn't believe that he said it, would have said, etc.

Silly boy, Marouane. It would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall at that meeting. Lucky they didn't hold it in an Austrian nightclub!

Wonder how long it will be before the Fellaini situation becomes "the club forcing the player out"?

Moyes is not a fool. He knows that it would be very surprising if Fellaini were to stay beyond January, and he must already be lining up potential replacements. This is the reality, I am afraid, for clubs like Everton - sell to buy.

I won't be blinded by my love for Everton, or hold our players in unconditional positive regard no matter what there actions (unlike our neighbours).

Sometimes it needs to be kept simple and Felli is a tit for saying what he did.

From what I've read this morning, Moyes seems resigned to the fact this will be his last season.

Full marks to Moyes and the club for tying him down until 2016. If he wants to go he can and will, but he'll go for top dollar. Can't see Moyes coming away with less than £25m, especially if more than one club wants him.

30 million stated to Chelsea for Fellaini if it was me... SOLD! He isn't that good in fact I would say he provides a central pivot for the players around him. Just a kind of middle man, the guy who collects the parcels and passes them to the postman to deliver. He scores few goals and doesnt really open up anything. Please don't tell Chelsea this, but 30 million possibly 2 quality players. Still some change for the bank. He holds up the ball extremely well and never gives it away, but that is it, no driving runs.

I'd settle for £20 Million plus Lukaku... and if we could resurrect the move for Vadis, it will be all sweet.

The recent Liverpool Echo articles on Fellaini are full of quotes from his Belgium coaches saying that he has always applied himself and been respectful of his employers.

I know a lot of people feel betrayed by his comments on his future, but it is possible that he made things clear (about how he saw his career progressing) to the club when he signed his new contract last year. Silly mistake to go public and let the cat out of the bag before the club were expecting it though.

As long as he is committed to playing to the best of his ability for however long he remains with us, then the club should be able to make good money when he is sold.

I'll say it again. We have the best bunch of players we've had since .. the 80's? Some are top Europe (ie world) class. If we don't get into Europe next season they will either want away or be bought away.

COYB and crush the Toons.

What I read into everything now, including the fact that Fellaini signed a long term contract for us, is that his going was decided a long time ago even before he signed it. My guess is that it'll be in January.

A shame really but at the right price it will be a great thing for the club. Bye big Fella

Keith 'world class' gets thrown around too much, we have some quality players and its just my opinion, but at this moment, the only player we have who I would label world class, is Baines.

Fellaini, still has a long way to go to be labelled world class. At the end of the day, in his first few years with us he showed glimpses of what he could do, but for me he only started to show his quality in the second half of last season and the first couple of games this season, against the Mancs and Villa, as I say, it's just my opinion.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fellaini only re-signed with Everton because:

a) guarantees from Moyes that he wouldn't stand in Fellaini's way if a Champions League club came calling. I believe someone mentioned that there may be a buyout clause in the range of £24-26 million.

b) Moyes would allow him to play further up the pitch so he can show prospective buyers he can score goals and play attacking football as well as the defensive stuff. This would help him get maximum money in his next contract. Everyone knows players that score goals make more money.

If Everton aren't in the top 6 by January, I expect Fellaini to be gone. I think if we're competing for Europe and playing well, he may stick around until the summer. Regardless, I'm sure this will be his last year (unless he gets injured). But ultimately we need a trading partner. If there is a buyout clause at £24-26 million, someone will meet it.

Scott 227..

There will be a buyout clause and any club interested in buying him will most likely already know what it is!
