Blues up for northwest awards

John Heitinga and Apostolos Vellios have both been nominated for awards at the Northwest Football Awards.

Heitinga, who was named Everton's Player of the Year, has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Year and will compete with Liverpool's Martin Skrtel and City's Vincent Kompany for the accolade.

Vellios, meanwhile, is up for the rising star award after his impressive first full season at Goodison that yielded three goals from comparatively few minutes on the field for the first team.

The awards will be decided by an online vote and the winners will be announced on 12 November.

Heitinga doesn't even deserve a place in our team at the moment, while Velios is way down the pecking order. Strange nominations.

Kompany all the way. The nominations are for last season not this, johnny was immense last season and is playing poorly at the moment because he was dropped for no football reason but to accommodate hoofing jagielka, then when he gets a chance he plays him on the left side of the central defence.

Everton centre of defence is performing poorly because Moyes has messed around with something that was not broken.
