Gibson withdrawn with thigh strain

David Moyes revealed that Darron Gibson was withdrawn at half-time in the game against Wigan because of a thigh strain after he pulled up following a free attempt just before the break.

The midfield linchpin was replaced by Steven Naismith and it remains to be seen whether or not he has suffered a recurrence of the thigh problem that sidelined him for almost three months earlier this season.

Moyes admitted when the Irishman first returned from injury that the Club's medical staff were not sure whether a bone growth on his thigh tendon would cause him further problems.

This would be bad. Defensive mid-cover is urgently required next week to spare us from months of Neville 'anchoring'. If we can loan in this Belgian-lad for half a season, let's go for it, the Belgians look to be enjoying a golden crop at the moment. (I wouldn't mind Benteke either!)

Agree Si, especially in the case of Kone, aka "Big Vic, Mk 2"!
