Fellaini says he'll stay... if wanted

Set to honour contract through 2016
Marouane Fellaini has admitted he wants to go higher in football but says he is committed to honouring his deal with Everton if the club want him to stay.

He remains under contract at Everton for another three-and-a-half years and insists he is happy to stay for as long as the club want him.

"I want to go higher in football but I have a contract with Everton until 2016 and, if they want me to, I will see it out to the end," said the Belgian.

But Fellaini has moved house from Liverpool for Manchester — because he was being mobbed by women!

"I am living in Manchester now, because in Liverpool, the women were crawling for me," Fellaini said.

"It was too much. In Manchester, people don't recognise me that much and tend to treat me in a more respectful way. I don't want to be a star. I just want to play football."

This is some good news for Everton FC if the player means it, or perhaps following his sending off those who were courting him have cooled their interest in him.

I know Scouse girls have a reputation, but is that really a plausible reason for moving to a different city?

On his salary, I'm sure the man can afford a decent barge pole..

Haha. It must be that flash Corsa he drives.

Don't know what to make of this one. Lets push for 4th place and see where we are at the end of the season.

If he can bring in big money and he wants to go then fair enough. So long as it goes back into the squad I'll be happy.

"I am living in Manchester now, because in Liverpool, the women were crawling for me" – Belgian humour perhaps?

Good to hear that Fellaini is committed to us, which probably means that he'll be off by the weekend.

BTW in Gary Neville's team of the season he had Fellaini, Jagielka & Baines

At least it firmly puts the ball in the clubs court.

Sorry he fancies Manchester more than Liverpool, I find the city pretentious and over priced compared to the friendliness of Liverpool. Most out-of-towners prefer Liverpool because the city centre is easy to get around on foot and the prices are the best in the country for a city.

I spent a few weekends in Manchester when I was seeing a lady from Whittle le Woods but the pubs were disappointing in the city centre.... no music, fun or friendliness at all.

Maybe in Manchester the women 'slither' for him?? Who knows??

Happy New Year to all ToffeeWeb contributors.

Does he really drive a Corsa? Class, if so.

This is fantastic news - sounds like an April Fool (with the Scouse girls comment) - if true.

He's a tremendous asset and our best, most consistent player, alongside Bainesy.

How funny is that. You've got to love the boy!

It would be so great if he stayed. It may also influence Moyes contract decision.......along with the promise of a few bob to spend.

Not quite as good "as once a blue...etc" but "women crawling for me" as a prelude to Manchester is a worthy attempt.

I still reckon Chelsea.

On another note, I was reading in the Guardian earlier that Moyes has asked Kenwright for an advance on the estimated £20m extra that the new Sky deal will bring into the club. He wants it for January and the summer. Kenwright presumably will try and get a loan against it.

It all sounds a bit too much like the usual back of the fag-packet wheeling and dealing that results in not much at all for my liking.

Have to agree slightly with Simon @389.

For someone who supposedly doesn't like the limelight he does an awful lot of talking to the press.

James and Simon,

He does an awful lot of talking to the press because the Belgian media want to talk to him, because he's one of their biggest stars. Plenty of players would like to talk, but hard to get your words out if nobody cares to report them. He's our star player, the Belgian press follow his play and want to talk to him, he says he would stay here until 2016 if wanted. What in the hell is so wrong with that? It's funny because if he was ignored by the media plenty on here would probably be complaining that he doesn't get fair coverage because the press don't pay attention to Everton players.

Good news for Felli I fans! Hopefully this could be a sign that Ofoe is on his way to Goodison! (I can dream can't l!?)

If DM can persuade Kenwright to raise the cash - from next years TV money -, perhaps we could buy the Belgium midfielder with the name nobody can remember, Benteke his compratiot from Aston Villa and Butland from Birmingham City, oh and throw in Lescott and Sinclair on loan, I really must cut down on this holiday alcohol, but it's good to dream isn't it?

If he wasn't rich and famous no woman would look twice at him. The only thing he has going for him is his football ability. Stay grounded Felli, ya big muppet.

He's probably a thoroughly nice fella Peter, and besides, he is rich and famous so the argument 'if he wasn't' is a bit null and void.... because he is.....

I believe him. While he has the likes of Baines, Pienaar and Jags to support him he will be a happy footballer, and 'if you're touched by Everton ....' seems to be happening here. Unless things change dramatically he will be eventually sold, not 'want away'.

And although he is highly visible, he will get more anonymity in Manchester. I would be surprised if he takes a city centre apartment - although that would be OK - so he'll almost certainly go to the very leafy - and expensive - southern suburbs, which are also handy for motorway links. I suspect he can afford it.

Get his hair cut? Nobody in football wants that and I'm surprised that an Evertonian should. The word 'iconic' is used far too much these days, but the Big Fella is not only an icon for us but for all football.

And Trevor, if you were being shown around by a lass from Whitle Le Woods I'm surprised you got further than Horwich. Next time you are in Manchester try The Castle, Oldham St. A trad/Indie pub with a good mix of nice people and a wonderful juke box and live gigs and drama in the back room.. Careful though, you might miss your last train home.

Strange comment from him ''If I'm Wanted''!! — Of course you are more than welcome to stay, and for as long as you like.

As for moving to Manchester, another unusual quip about Scouse birds and not being recognised there... is there some ulterior motive in moving to Billionaires Row in time for the transfer window, one wonders???

Talk is cheap when it comes to anything a footballer says. Let's see what he's saying if we don't qualify for a Champions League spot.

Brian, I'm sure you're correct to be sceptical but I think that MF is being genuine this time. Perhaps it's part of the game Moyes is playing regarding getting some money to spend now rather than in the Summer.

I wonder if DM has enough brass to buy Kenwright out himself?

Peter: "If I'm wanted" is surely recognition that at some point (sooner rather than later), Bill & Dave will likely be very tempted to cash in on the nice long contract they negotiated, and sell the lad on for a princely sum. The only trick then is to get the lad to submit his transfer request... but the way he's been blabbing, that should be dead easy.

Does anyone know where he lives in "Liverpool"? I would have thought Southport rather than Kirkby - not wanting to reopen any old wounds of course.

Moving to Manchester to escape the attention of Liverpool's wannabe WAGS seems extreme unless he is a city boy at heart. Nothing he has said stops him moving if the club want him to go. If he wanted away the club could easily block it and it would be against his best interests to then fester in the reserves rather than showcasing his ability in the first team. He might still get a big money deal if he played-up, but it would damage his chances with the absolute best clubs.

I thought Fellaini was either city centre apartment or south Liverpool (Woolton / Calderstones) but there are plenty of places he could have chosen for relative obscurity that are not so far away or isolated from his team-mates (which is what bothers me). Southport is one option (doesn't have an L postcode and isn't contiguous Keith, so doesn't really fit with being in Liverpool) but there are umpteen others including the likes of Lathom and Lytham.

For now, I am happy to presume he prefers a luxury apartment with an abundance of eateries nearby to a sprawling pile with acres of ground and high fences.

Patrick (#401) - the name is Vadis Odjidja Ofoe (and has been stuck in my head since the end of August as I thought we would need him - or someone like him - at some stage this season), Even if Benteke was available (didn't Villa buy him outright; why would they sell at this stage of the season?) I am not sold on him. When Jelli rediscovers his form he will make Benteke look second rate. I am similarly not convinced that we would be best spending a large chunk of whatever limited money we have on a replacement goalkeeper.

He's not exactly a classically good lookin' guy that the girls would jump on but he does have the "moulah". What a crass interview. Bullshit, I don't think he's that stupid (unless the head butt rearranged his brain).

If he says he is on contract and will honour it........... add to this the fact that he knows Everton will want to cash in rather than be thwarted by the Bosman free transfer rule at the end of contract........... so he knows the club will jump at it sometime ........the price goes up!!!!. Billy is happy to collect, Felli (and his agent) are happy to collect, the supporters are left wondering what will be done with the windfall....... we all know, really.............. straight in to the bank and maybe spend 10% of it on a team player replacement.

Sh one T. Am I becoming sceptical???

The Boy really can't win.

If he says he wants to play champions league football, so he gets slated on here. So he says he's willing to see out his contract unless the Club decide to sell him first (Ball, Speed, Feguson etc). The result is that he gets dogs abuse.

Why is he talking to the Media? Because he's one of the best footballers in the league and is surely in demand from the press. Its not rocket science.

Give the boy a break. we should appreciate his talents whilst he's turining out for Everton, starting with tonight at the Toon.

36 Posted 02/01/2013 at 23:08:52
That's good of him to see out his contract very noble. He knows as do the rest of us greedy little Kenwright won't keep paying him until 2016 and then let him go free he will sell him at the end of the season when the price is high. Just empty words really and a sad indictment of the game.
