Mirallas revelling in regular action

David Moyes has acknowledged the impressive recent form of Kevin Mirallas who is once again showing what an important player he is to Everton's European chances now that he has recovered from his injury problems.

The Belgian forward was on target in the 3-1 cup replay win over Oldham last week scored and he capped the weekend victory over Reading by the same scoreline with a well-taken third goal.

After being left on the bench for 78 minutes at Norwich, Mirallas' overall contribution to the Blues' hitherto faltering attack has been stellar over the last couple of games and coincided with the return of Seamus Coleman to offer a threat down both flanks.

Moyes admits that the 25 year-old's form and goals down the home stretch in the Premier League and FA Cup campaigns will be important to the team's chances on both fronts.

"Mirallas was a very different player than the one who had been operating in recent weeks," Moyes said.

"He needed to get his fitness back because he was out for a long time. What we saw here was a player who looked like he can score goals and create goals.

"That's really important for us because we've needed someone to get on the end of things. Things aren't going Jela's way at present - so to have Kevin providing that threat is really important."

What a luxury to have Mirallas fit and Coleman back on the pitch. Yet again a good sight on the coming months, evertonians stay strong with the squad, we're doing this, come on you blues!

Don't know what we're doing but I hope we keep on winning.

This Nick... we're doing... this. I think that was made pretty clear.

Let's hope we keep doing more of this, and maybe even a little bit of that, and then who knows what great things might happen!

Mink - If we stay healthy, we're still in play for 4th.

Must mention on Coleman - This kid is looking more like the goods every time he plays. We keep him and Miralles out there, other teams will have problems with both sides of our attack.

Give the guy a break. What a bunch of ball-breakers. This ball and that one.

I was completely off message. I was doing some of the other.

...sorry for saying 'off message'.

Mirallas is a class act. We don't have a backup who can do what he does so he is vital for our run in

James, we have Oviedo. He is fast and skillful and almost won the derby for us after coming on. He did Henderson every time. If only he had been brought on instead of Gueye at HT.

I have suggested previously when Mirallas was injured that Oviedo could be used on the right which would mirror our left wing. He would certainly suit against Wigan.

Brian, Oviedo has played well whenever I've seen him come on on the left. Whenever he's been on the right he's looked anonymous however. Unfortunately it seems that most of our widemen prefer playing from the left than the right.

Hopefully Pienaar can continue the good work he did against Reading from the right-hand side allowing Mirallas to reprise his debry destruction from the left flank.

So let me get this straight – Mirallas is benefiting from having more game time, so why has he been sitting on the subs bench and not been playing?

Then we are told Barkley and Duffy are too inexperienced to be on the pitch so how do they get experience – watching?

Oviedo and Vellios get no game time either but Neville does. Meanwhile our -1 player Naismith gets copious game time but still remains absolutely useless and more use to the opposition than to Everton. This is just not logical at all, well not unless you are the tactical genius that Moyes supporters think he is I suppose.

Tim Jones, I'm pretty sure the answers to your questions are in the original post:

"He needed to get his fitness back because he was out for a long time."

I'd imagine this is why he has only recently been asked to play a full 90 mins.

James, I agree with you on Oviedo, he does seem to play better on the left. Switching Pienaar to the right seemed to work well against Reading, although somehow Mirallas doesn't bring Baines into the game in the same way Pienaar does.
