Water spray spat 'a minor skirmish'

The Football Association will not be taking retrospective action over last night's altercation between Arsenal and Everton players in the tunnel at The Emirates Stadium.

A number of players squared up to each other at half-time after Kevin Mirallas squirted water in Jack Wilshere's face, apparently in response to the Gunners midfielder's frequent whining at what he and manager Arsene Wenger perceived to be an overly aggressive approach by the Blues.

The FA will be letting the matter rest, however, after match officials saw the incident as a "minor skirmish".

Here's another take on the half-time mind games by Mirallas, in The Independent.

Plus, when did Tim Cahill start training at Finch Farm again?

Wilshere is a cracking player but he is a bitch, I can see him ending up hated by other fans like Cole who acts the same way.

At least we've got somebody with a bit of bottle (terrible, I know, but you can't accuse me of being Dour or Dopey).

The lad who wrote this is almost an anagram of "snorkel" - very strange considering the watery theme.

Water fights and tackling making the news, this is not the same game I grew up with.

Does it count in the stats as another shot on target?

Tony — totally off topic for a moment:

Seem to remember you asked ages ago if and how much supporters would be prepared to give?

Any info on that?

John, the fans response spurred us on at the time that there was an appetite and a will for this. However, as we've said all along, fan contributions alone will not be enough, even over a number of years to enable objectives to be met. Other fans are also assisting with their professional input so things are still progressing.

Fans should be assured that we're still here and will be for a long time to come; plus the relevant stakeholders know who we are and what we are aiming to achieve.

That was hilarious from Kev and he did it so innocently and in a cool way which made it funnier. Needless to say Wilshere is one of the bad boys now, I'm sure he'd like that image but he is going to be unpopular in the future if he is going to dive, roll around and pretend to be injured all of the time.

Sad that a top English player has to behave like that, as he is a role model to kids, now kids in the playground are going to protest, roll around and swear at refs because he does.

This is what is wrong with modern football, the footballers are bad role models for kids, bring back the days of Bobby Moore and the 70s as those challenges would have been nothing then. Football has gone soft.

Arsenal have always been the same and this fact has (for me) always detracted from my admiration ( at times) as to how they try to play the game. I think the manager shoulders most of the responsibility for this as it seems to be part of his make-up and his teams respond to this. Arsenal are fine when teams let them play and they are winning but if things don't go their way they rapidly turn cynical and, to put it bluntly, start to cheat. I well remember a few years ago when Arteta was running them ragged at Goodison and they targeted him to a point where he responded and was sent off for raising his hand to one of their players.

Henry and Viera were the most nauseating whingers in the game and constantly harassed referees and the event that sticks most in my mind was some years ago when they managed to get a referee to change his mind after awarding Fulham a penalty against them.

But most of all, what I despise most about them is their propensity to whinge and scream like a bunch of schoolgirls when tackled or physically challenged. It is totally embarrassing and it has to be something they pick up from the way the club is run and what is expected of them.

Jack Wilshere is the latest example. He is a very good player (but not as good in my opinion as he or the media think he is) and personally I congratulate Kev for giving him a squirt in the eye. The prick needs a smack in the eye to be truthful but I'm glad Kev restrained himself!

Well done lad. You've just raised yourself even higher in my estimation!!

Agreed DR.

Match officials saw the incident as a minor skirmish but added that things would have been different had Kev stolen his dummy as well.

Wilshere, what a three cornered hat.

Arsenal are set to announce a huge sponsorship deal at the end of the season, it is said that their new partners are made to measure for the club and what it stands for, nobody from Pampers was available to comment.
