Chelsea defeat epitomises the season for Everton

This defeat epitomised the campaign, some will argue it epitomised the Moyes era, as missed chances and slack defending nullified good football. This familiar theme has prevailed throughout the season. In-between gifting the opposition goals, Everton have squandered chance after chance; Sunday was no different.

True about Jelavic...he is total rubbish, the worst striker I have ever seen. Anichebe is muscular but useless. Naismith is not up to standard and Heitinga is shite as well. But Jelavic is the worst...I would pay for his air travel back to wherever he comes from, but he'd probably miss the flight

The BBC's village idiot in residence, Garth (the boy done good) Crooks, has named Evra as left back in his team of the season! W....T.....F!!

John, I agree on Baines over Cole (just) but to be fair Evra plays for a team that wins league titles. Garth Crooks has often chosen Everton players in his team of the week. IMO Baines was better for us last season, and now is the time to sell

Garth Crooks bases his entire team selection on "Who has scored the most" so it's not surprising.

Its tough at the top.

With wins expected its not so much about how many points are gained, more how many you drop. Any miss or mistake is magnified and costly.

Down the bottom there's a healthier appreciation for any points achieved - everything gained is a bonus.

With our 7th best attack and 4th best defence this season, Wigan fans would laugh at the squandered and slack defending descriptors above... even if they were squandered and slack.

Well, I think Heitinga for Anichebe summed the 11 years up really.

I'm somewhat with Joe on that one. If anyone thinks Baines had an outstanding season in comparison with last season or the one before, they seriously need their heads checked.

Your right, Baines was a lot better last season but he's still our best and most consistent performer by some distance and still the best left back in the league.

Completely agree. We play well, create loads of chances but still manage to lose to a very heavy legged Chelsea. Moyes just constantly plays out of form players - what has Vellios done to deserve being ignored - not even on the bench! When he played (it seems years ago) he did well and scored a couple. Moyes in an interview said he isn't selected because he doesn't track back!! But a non tracking back Vellios is better than a useless piece of garbage like Jelavic. I was at the game on Sunday just in front of Jelavic when he somehow managed to scoop the ball out of the way of the gaping goal (with cech nowhere) and high into the crowd! Really - how much do we pay him??

We didn`t beat Chelsea because our so-called strikers were hopeless. And it wasn`t Moyes` tactics or mindset that made Howard gift them a goal.
Wake up and start laying the blame where it stems from rather than seeing Davey as the anti-Christ!
