Martinez making all the right noises

Doubts lingered over the appointment of Roberto Martinez, the relegation at Wigan threatening to become the proverbial millstone around his neck. Yet slowly but surely, the refined Spaniard is convincing the doubters.

How can he say anything about him yet.

He has done nothing so far. And I am not convinced.

Let us not pretend, we are taking a huge chance on RM. He will probably fail to get CL, and in my mind that is the most important thing.

I just do not agree that everybody is convinced. We keep our mouth shut until he shows us what he can do. How is that an endorsement?

The media are making shit up, there will be complaints once it is shown that RM is not able to find top quality players. He simply cannot come to a top 6 club and buy average players, Moyes had just started to get the fact that we need top quality players in order to get anywhere.

We will not get CL by getting Kone or Alcaraz, we need top quality players badly. The fall can come quick if this is not done.

I am far from convinced about RM and his ability on the transfer market, at least not when it comes to finding players ready to fight and get the CL. The early love phase is just about over, we need results and top players now.

He's done nothing I am afraid. If, as Moyes was quoted, that all was in place, including identified players, then has he completely thrown the baby out with the bathwater and ignored it all. If so, fair enough... but then what is he doing? Or are holidays etc. in the way?

He will be judged for me in the short term on his ability to keep the squad together and adding to it where we all know it is needed, that is the short-term measure for him and the board; the type of playing can only be a long-term plan.

Saying all the fluffy stuff means nothing at all, which is one thing you could credit Moyes with – he never got into that.

Nobody from Wigan will be good enough; we need some technical players, no doubt from abroad.

Whereas Bill Kenwright is making strange crying noises next door as he kisses and hugs his big framed picture of David Moyes...

Jimmy- Yes Moyes obviously got the fact we needed to bring top quality players to our club, Moyes brought in Naismith.

Martinez signed players for Wigan which I would love to see at Everton, players like McCarthy and Diame. I think Alcaraz would be a good signing as far as freebies go

Paul Landon- I think RMs positivity is a breath of fresh air, just hope he can put his words into actions. Just because a player plays for Wigan, it doesn't mean he's not good enough. Velencia was good enough for Man Utd wasn't he?

Lets get behind our RM, COYB!

Moyes was given 11yrs, looks like some aren't even prepared to give Martinez 11 minutes.

Paul,Martinez is our manager now, so anything that Moyes had in place doesn't mean squat.

Yeah agree with you on Moyes not saying all the fluffy stuff, he just came out with shite like 'knife to a gunfight' 'first priority is get to 40pts'.

Peter Taylor now joins the list of managers who make subs to hang on to a win only to have it snatched away with a late equaliser. Why do they all do it? He took Barkley off with the clock running down and then the board goes up for 4 Minutes of Injury time. Barkley did ok and I think it was him that made the burst through the middle of the park for England's second goal. Apparently the team at this level hasn't won a match in 15 games, which tells us that something is completely wrong about how we train these kids. Nobody was able to express themselves every player looked like they had a zone and were told not to move out of it.

I didn't see anything to excite me with regards future stars, but it was the first game of the tournament for England so we'll see what they do next time.

Give the guy a chance for fuck sake. This time in June is when a lot of managers do media work during a tournament. Moyes was always off at various tournaments. Martinez, like most managers at this time of year, won't get to the real work until he's back at the end of June and getting ready for pre-season.

Any before anybody says it, yes, I know, he's just new to the Everton job. He may have signed an agreement to cover the Confederations Cup before he got the job and he's honouring that. It's not a conspiracy by the Board, by the PL, the RS, by Martinez or anybody else to keep Everton down.

Paul at 711, what should he say? Everton can fuck off, I'm on my holidays. Or maybe, the club is in a shit state, I've no money for transfers and Kenwright is a cunt. Or Maybe, just maybe, he just stays positive and polite when a journalist asks him a question, then leaves things alone until he's settled into his office at the training ground proper and can actually get on with it.

Paul @ 711.

Maybe Moyes never did get into talking fluffy stuff, whatever that is, but the shite he did come out with was far more damaging than fluff. Moyes can be credited with utter gormless shite like the "Baines is the second best LB in the country" crap or the hilariously insane "knife to a gunfight" quote.

How about the constant bigging-up of the opposition and the pathetic excuses after chucking games away? Nah, Moyes talked shite – not fluff.

No argument there, Tony, I totally agree with you. I was only raising the fluffy stuff which is what currently RM is doing in the absence currently of anything else.

Time is running out and I hope he is onto it all, but Confederations Cup should have been stopped by the board in my opinion.

The players he needs to focus on are the ones we have got; from that comes what you need.

Talking about the history and the nice feel of the place is either already known by us all or on the other hand a complete irrelevance in relation to his role and objectives. Better to just say nothing and get on with it.

I wish him all the best and I give him 100 per cent support, I just want some action like we all do and that should have been the No 1 priority. I might be wrong. .

Give the guy a chance? All that most posters seem to be saying is that the article suggest he has achieved something already, but in fact all he has done is given interviews. Until the season gets going we will not be able to judge him as a manger, lets just wait and see.......

As far as getting into the top 4 is concerned, Jesus Christ as manager couldn't do it, so let's get realistic.

We can't buy ourselves into the top 4, so the other alternative is to develop from within, that's the only way we have a chance.

Moyes overachieved, so Martinez in his first season will do brilliant if he finishes in the top 8. Give him some time to get his head round the club... I think he could become a great manager, just the type we need.
