Boss dismisses United shenanigans as a waste of time
Echoing the club's official rejection of Manchester United's insulting double bid for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, Roberto Martinez says that the Champions' approach for two of his star players was 'a bit of a waste if time', particularly given its timing at the start of the new season.

"It's been well documented what happened with the transfer speculation, that's been dealt with and it was all a little bit of a waste of time — time I don't want the players to waste," Martinez told evertontv.

And he emphasised that his primary focus is to keep the players' minds on starting the new campaign in the best way possible.

"I'm not a big believer in having the window open while the games are starting," the Spaniard said. "I think the start of the season was important for us at Norwich and I won't come out now and carry on talking about the speculation.

"When there is something to tell our fans we will do that — they'll be the first ones to know if there are any players coming in or any players going out."

Martinez's comments come in the wake of confirmation from Everton of a £28m offer from Old Trafford for Fellaini and Baines, one branded as derisory in a letter attributed to director Jon Woods to the Manchester club.
