Everton have announced details of how supporters will be engaged to select the club's new crest for 2014-15 and beyond.

The club pledged to replace the existing, short-lived badge after the current season following an overwhelmingly negative reaction to the design when it was unveiled earlier this year.

New Director of Communications, Alan Myers, has been charged with steering the initiative to produce a new badge and Everton teamed up with the Liverpool Echo to announce details of the process that will culminate in the unveiling of the club's new identity in October.

Fans are invited to complete a questionnaire at www.evertonfc.com/crest to have their say on how they want the new crest to look and highlight which individual elements from previous crests are important to them. There will also be an option for fans to upload their own designs, sketches or make further suggestions.

Additionally, a series of focus groups will be set up with Supporters' Clubs, Shareholders, the Fans' Forum, the new Junior Fans' Forum, the Everton Heritage Society and the Everton Former Players' Foundation.

When the window for feedback closes on 15th September, Kenyon Fraser will independently collate all the suggestions, ideas and feedback from supporters. They will review, interpret and then create design options for the fanbase to vote on.

The final decision will then be hand over to Everton's fans to vote on a selection of designed crests which will be presented alongside a detailed explanation of how each one has been developed. The result will be announced on 3rd October.
