Luke Garbutt has been loaned to League One side Colchester United, initially for four months weeks, and he could be involved as soon as tomorrow when the Us play Bradford City.

The 20 year-old spent the season on loan at Cheltenham Town the season before last but after playing just once in the Blues' senior side in the League Cup a year ago and playing for England at the U20 World Cup, Everton U21s manager Alan Stubbs felt it would be good for him to get more first-team exposure with another loan spell.

"It's a chance for Luke to go out and play some competitive games which will help his experience," Stubbs told evertonfc.com.

“His loan is for 28 days which means he has the opportunity to play five matches. Colchester play Bradford, Crawley, Bristol City, Wolves and Walsall in that time, four of which are in the top half of the table so it will be good for his development.”
