Gareth Barry says that he has settled into life at Everton much quicker than he expected and that be already feels part of the club, something that took a little longer when he joined Manchester City four years ago.

“It's only the second transfer in my career," Barry told evertonfc.com. "Certainly at City it took me a lot longer to feel part of the team and part of the club but here it has felt that bit different.

“Everybody has welcomed me in and the manager has suited my style, so I think that played a big part in me fitting straight in. Obviously positive results help as well.

“It's been a mixture of things but I've felt part of Everton straight away.”

The 32 year-old midfielder also revealed his admiration for emerging star Ross Barkley and declared that Goodison is the perfect place for him to continue his development. "There are so many positives I can throw at [Ross], for such a young player he is playing a very mature game," Barry says in The Independent.

"He is strong, quick, has a change of pace and the performances he has shown in the Premier League prove he can deal with the pressure.

"But on the other side the manager has already stated you don't want to put loads of pressure on his shoulders.

"You don't want to build him up too much. I think Everton is the perfect club to be learning his trade and the more he plays the more he learns and he will keep improving while keeping his feet on the ground, which will be ideal for him."
