Pienaar scan reveals no injury but Alcaraz sidelined again

Steven Pienaar received the all-clear from a scan at Finch Farm today, calming fears that he had picked up an injury during yesterday's win over Norwich.

The midfielder was withdrawn as a precaution after 70 minutes of the 2-0 victory with a suspected niggle but an assessment by club medical staff revealed no problems.

There was not such good news regarding Antolin Alcaraz who was apparently rested yesterday following the return from injury of Phil Jagielka.

The club captain missed two weeks with a hamstring strain but recovered more quickly than expected and partnered John Stones in front of Tim Howard, helping the Blues to another clean sheet.

Alcaraz deputised superbly in the games against Southampton, Stoke and QPR but was given a break as he eases back to regular action following an extended layoff after hernia surgery. Now he will apparently be missing for up to two weeks with 'muscle fatigue'.
