Everton Under-21s captain Jonjoe Kenny says Monday's free-entry game at Goodison will be a showcase — not only for the fans, but for Roberto Martinez.

The young Blues host Sunderland under the floodlights in a league contest that kicks off at 7pm and Kenny is looking forward to playing under the lights at Goodison Park with first-team manager Roberto Martinez watching on.

"It's another big opportunity to be back at Goodison," Kenny told evertontv. "The gaffer and all of the first-team staff will be watching us again and they've shown they are willing to give kids a chance.

"You've always got to perform, even in training, because the manager will be watching. You can't have an off-day."

Having been handed the armband for the season, Kenny has embraced the added responsibility and has his eyes on three points.

He added: "It's the best feeling you can get, being the captain at a young age and especially leading the lads out at Goodison. It's a dream. But we're really looking forward to playing Sunderland. We know what they're about and we hope for another massive crowd with it being free tickets for the fans."

The mini-matchday is free for all fans to attend and tickets can be obtained by visiting the Goodison Road or Park End Box Office, Everton One and Everton Two until midday on Monday, 1 December. (Any child under the age of 11 will need to be accompanied by an adult.)

How old is JonJoe? I believe he is a right back, but not sure how close he is to the first team like Ledson?

He is 17 and on a 3-year contract until 2017. Plenty of time for him to develop.

Steven Jones (#1),

I don’t think he is ready for the first team for at least a couple of seasons but you’ll get a chance to see him. I think he will be here for a very long time. He’s good!!!!!!!

Aye, Garbutt, Browning and Ledson this season; Kenny and Galloway and anybody else showing promise next. A key to Roberto’s regime will be turning these promising youngsters into PL players as opposed to Championship players.

Here’s me thinking the game was all about results, but obviously although the youngsters are winning in the Martinez way it is not what some Evertonians want to see. Now let’s see who can come to Goodison to implement a long-term plan, get the club back to the highest levels of the game and do so with a limited war-chest....I await the long list of candidates. Oh sod it get on the phone to Mr Pulis, Mr Kenwright he’ll get us back to the places we dream of.

Patrick.
What the fuck has the war chest got to do with the U21s?
We have 2 internationals on the pitch and some of the most talented youngsters in the game reputedly.

What are we doing? Passing it aimlessly across the back and having great difficulty in getting out of our own half.

Giving the ball away cheaply, bit laboured going forward, looking shaky at the back, Hmmmmm..........

We don’t close down. We don’t make runs off the ball. We want to do everything at 50% capacity. There really is a strange lack of intensity under Roberto - in this game and in the game yesterday.

If you change the manager because you want to change the style then he has to have a war-chest to buy players for the first-team, I’m just saying that whoever we had as manager would have the same problems and I don’t agree with those who think that Roberto is making things worse than they were but I truly hope that in the long-term he makes things better than we have been used to, but judging by the common complaints few people are willing to give him the time to achieve his aims and it would seem even fewer are enjoying watching Everton at any level at this moment in time. Good old Brian right on cue...

We literally dribble more towards our own goal than theirs...enough quality out there to give way more than we’re seeing...

saying that.. more purpose since the goal.. and Oviedo BABY
