Everton academy defender Jordan Thorniley has joined Stockport County in a youth loan deal.

The 18-year-old centre half, fresh from signing a one-year professional contract with Everton, will link up with the National League North side in time for their friendly with Macclesfield Town.

Their manager Neil Young was quoted in the Echo as saying: “Jordan’s a left-footed centre-half who is well thought of at Goodison Park and I’m glad we have been able to get a deal done with a Premier League club.

“It’s a big fillip that a club at our level can attract a player from Premier League level.”
