Everton's Under-18s returned to winning ways following their defeat to Manchester City by comfortably overcoming Middlesbrough at Finch Farm.

Nathan Broadhead got the Young Blues off the mark with a penalty and further strikes by Jack Bainbridge and Shayne Lavery had them 3-0 up by half time.

Mitchell Curry scored a late consolation for the visitors after Broadhead had been shown a straight red card in the 79th minute but John Ebbrell's side held on to ensure they moved back into second place above local rivals Liverpool.

Everton: O’Loughlin, Yates, Myers, Baningime, Bainbridge, Yarney, Donohue, Kiersey, Lavery, Broadhead, Kinsella.
Subs: Pierce, Harrington, Bramall, Lees, Mellen.
