Everton Under-18s were beaten by a single goal in their first match of the Dallas Cup against Tigres of Mexico.

The young Blues fell behind to a goal by Cruz after a quarter of an hour and then had their prospects of getting back into the game were dented when Josef Yarney was sent off in the second half.

Everton rallied late on despite their numerical disadvantage and went close to equalising through Nathan Broadhead but his header was well saved by Silva in the Tigres goal.

Everton U18s: Pierce, Yates, Lees, Yarney, Mellen, Baningime, Harrington, Kiersey, Morris (Denny 85), Broadhead, Brewster.
Subs not used: Johnson, Moore, Corke, Virtanen.

Kevin Sheedy's side are back in action tomorrow this evening against Kyoto Sanga with a 7pm kick-off (UK time).
