Everton in the Community has teamed up with KitAid and is urging fans coming to Saturday's home game against Swansea City to bring old and unwanted kit with them to be distributed to under-privileged children and adults from some of the world's poorest countries.

There will be kit drop-off points at the Matchday Hub, Fan Zone and with St Luke's Church where volunteers from EitC, Everton Heritage Society and KitAid will all be on hand to receive your donations and share some more detail about the fantastic work of KitAid.

Established in 1998, KitAid is a charity that distributes recycled and donated football kit and equipment to over 40 countries around the world, sharing the passion for football with thousands of under-privileged children and adults.

Just one of the many countries that benefits from the donated kit is South America and Costa Rican international Bryan Oviedo has thrown his weight behind the campaign:

“Football is a global sport that unites people from all different backgrounds. It would be fantastic if Evertonians coming to Goodison on Saturday could bring some of their old kit with them which we can then share with people in need all over the world.”

Everton Heritage Society has been working with KitAid for over a year and each match day hosts a drop-off point at St Luke's Church for supporters to donate discarded shirts from years gone by.

John Mulcahy, a member of the Everton Heritage Society, sadly passed away in 2014 and last year his cherished Everton shirts were sent to Malawi where a local team was renamed ‘Mulcahy's Young Soccer FC' in his memory.

You can get involved by bringing your unwanted kit, boots and sports equipment* to the Fan Zone, Matchday Hub or St Luke's Church on Saturday from 12noon.

*We can accept football shirts, shorts, socks, football boots, trainers, rain jackets, sweatshirts, training kit and football and simply request that all items are clean and in a wearable condition.
