Everton's Under-23s were beaten 3-0 by Rochdale at USM FinchFarm today and are out of the competition.

Everton's starting line-up included a rare appearnace for Conor McAleny who had an effort saved while Antony Evans missed the target and Beni Baningime struck the outside of the post as the Blues had the better of the first half.

The visitors benefitted from the wind in the second period and scored three times to knock the holders out.

Everton: Hunt, Kinsella, Yarney, Feeney, Bainbridge, Baningime, Broadhead, Henen, McAleny, Evans, Duffus.

Virtually a reserve Under-23 side Liam; no Walsh, Dowell, Kenny, Connolly, Calvert-Lewin, Davies, Holgate, Robinson, Jones, Pennington, Browning etc.

Looks like we weren't very interested in this trophy.

Dave spot on.

Only one starter from the last u23 game v Sunderland. That was Baningime.

Obviously concentrating on the league then like the senior squad.

I see Henen played with so many others rested. His time is surely up soon along with McAleny.
