U18s unbeaten run ends in mini-derby reverse

Everton U18s 13-game unbeaten run came to an end in a 1-2 defeat to Liverpool at USM Finch Farm.

They were much the better side throughout and unfortunate not to take something from a predictably hard-fought contest in which the Blues had chances before going behind to a fast breakaway.

Hornby heading over and Jack Kiersey lost his footing when clear before Bramall was tripped and Hornby stepped up and coolly converted from the spot.

Shayne Lavery then went close to giving Everton the lead but the Reds went straight up the other end and delivered another sucker-punch.

Everton U18s: Pierce, Moore (Mampala), Harrington, Denny, Lees, Collins, Bramall, Kiersey, Lavery, Hornby, Gordon (Scully).
Subs not used: Jones, Duke-McKenna, Ball.
