Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for England Under-20s as they beat Senegal 2-0 in the Four Nations tournament.

His Goodison team-mates Ademola Lookman and Jonjoe Kenny also played while Callum Connolly was named among the substitutes.

Or, to put it another way; "Everton kid on the mark in someone else's battle."

(No seriously, happy for the lad.)

Good to see some positive news about our youth players, let's hope they all progress.

I think this young man does have something interesting which is the knack of "being there at the right time". He currently lacks, of course, the nous and Premier League awareness that will come with time.

He hasn't yet been played in a true striker/back-up striker role, apart from his cameo against Southampton where he looked a different player to the one who has played out wide in his other appearances.

I see Lookman assisted the second. He's another one I have every faith in, he's presently learning his trade and, I expect, being beefed up and boosted in his speed of reaction and so on to make him ready for the Premier League. There's something about this player and the way he carries himself that fills me with hope.

It makes a pleasant change after years of reading about M Owen an R Stirling etc.

At last, it seems that we are recruiting the right type of youngsters and they are delivering on their promise.

Long may it last!

Three out of eleven plus one on the bench, gotta be happy.

Peter (#2) – Or, to put it another way: "Everton kid on the mark in someone else's battle."

Very good.

McAleny scored a hat-trick for Oxford tonight. Looks like our 'class of 92' could be taking shape!

Just lately I notice that our younger players and youth system are getting mentioned in the sports media (radio at least).

This is part of the team that will run out at the new stadium and sweep all before them. Hope they learn to dive.

So happy to read great news about our young guns. Yes, it could well be our golden generation in the spanking new stadium.

Kieron Dowell also came on from the bench and just missed out on a goal, slipping as he was about to tap in.

Great to see so many of our promising youngsters progressing and receiving international recognition.
