Tarashaj sidelined by knee injury

Tuesday 11 July 2017  13 Comments  [Jump to last]

Shani Tarashaj's hopes of forcing his way into Ronald Koeman's thinking this summer have been dashed by an operation required on his knee.

The 22-year-old was signed by Roberto Martinez from Grasshopper Zurich 18 months ago but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues despite making inroads into the Swiss national team.

Tarashaj spent last season on loan in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, making 15 Bundesliga appearances and scoring once and officially returned to Everton this summer.

He will be out of action for an unspecified period of time now after undergoing surgery in Rome last week.

I see Tarashaj has just had a knee operation & will be out for some time. When did he get injured?

Tarashaj had a knee operation on 9th May and is reported to be out for 63 days. So he should be returning to full training.

Injuries sabotaged his loan spell last season to an extent as well. It's a shame, but it's hard to make an impression if you can't stay on the field.

Can't imagine why Shani Tarashaj would get near the squad after injuries and hardly any game time last season. No surprise for me on that front.

It is reported he had an operation on his meniscus tear on May the 9th and should have been out for 9 weeks.

This lad might come in handy if his injury isn't too long.

With the signings completed and possibly more to come, can't see this guy getting much of a look in. He didn't exactly set the German league on fire.

We , I say, collectively, had almost forgotten about this guy, correct me if I'm wrong, but ANOTHER, Martinez signing, who potentially, was going to be, a hidden gem.

Well, he's certainly been hidden, he re-appears, and is going to be out for God knows how long?

If I was 40 minutes younger, I'd have loved to have a 'job with Everton' we get these no-marks, God knows what wages they are on, and they disappear into obscurity.

I have worked all my life, got a crap pension, and I have to question, somewhere along the line, the Club, I love, seems to proliferate money, right left and centre?

Sorry for being a pain, but I am just stating facts, as I see them, as a life-long blue.

Derek (#5),

Fair point

1 goal in 15 games in Germany doesn't fill me with confidence that he's an Premier League star in the making

Rom is of a similar age. Just saying...

Derek (#5); It was reported that he missed time in Germany owing to tonsilitis and his pre-season was interrupted by an injury in a friendly match. Injuries are a career hazard for professional sportsmen, remember Paul Bracewell?

Is that Photoshopped or did he really pull on the jersey (even in a friendly)?

Steve, it may have been taken in last season's preseason friendly against MK Dons. I recall he was tackled badly in the first half and was down for a while. He was subbed with McGeady start of second half.
