The ToffeeWeb–Evertonia Merger

Announcing a new era: two major Everton websites are combining!

 TOFFEEWEB AND EVERTONIA

The two leading independent Everton websites on the Internet are joining forces:

ToffeeWeb.org The earliest of all Everton websites on the internet

 PLUS

Evertonia.Com The Everton website with the best design and layout

 EQUALS

ToffeeWeb.Com A new site and a unique combination: Only the Best

 TOFFEEWEB.ORG

Over the past seven years, ToffeeWeb has grown to become a major undertaking – devoted to factual up-to-date information, statistics, reports, and intelligent opinions on everything to do with Everton.  It also represents a unique and growing archive of Everton records from the recent internet era.

The emphasis has always been on content, with a relatively simple layout originally created by Marko Poutiainen that was designed to load quickly – featuring a minimum of graphics, javascript, and other heavyweight internet window-dressing.

But time stands still for no-one.  Broadband is on the march, and Marko is no longer actively involved in maintaining the site.  That awesome responsibility has increasingly fallen on the current Site Manger, Michael Kenrick, who collates the diverse site content from his home in Seattle, on the US west coast.

 EVERTONIA.COM

Evertonia.com was created by Lyndon Lloyd, and continues to be managed by him despite huge changes in his personal circumstances over the last 18 months.  Lyndon got married, he got a proper job, and he also left England to take up residence on the US west coast – in San Fransisco.

Any watchers of the Internet can't fail to have noticed that the coverage provided at full-service football websites has tended to evolve into a cadre of essential sections: News, Current Season, History, the Club, the Fans, Comment...  the formula is now almost cast in stone.  Neither  Evertonia.com nor ToffeeWeb.org could buck this trend, so the decision was made to combine this overlapping content to form the core for the ultimate Everton website – by the fans, for the fans.

So the idea for ToffeeWeb.Com was formulated...

 TOFFEEWEB.COM

The sensible and logical way forward was to combine the two websites.  And that is exactly what we have done.  The new website features a smart and incredibly functional layout that Lyndon has developed and evolved through numerous iterations of Evertonia.com.  It is now applied to the comprehensive in-depth Everton content that became a watchword for ToffeeWeb.org.

The new site makes full use of more advanced web technologies: javascript, Active Server Pages, database integration...  For future development, we intend to bring you:

  • New internet technologies – such as WAP support for mobile phones
  • More up-to-date statistics – including all player records
  • More interactive content – feedback pages on match reports

And what of the change to a dot.com entity for ToffeeWeb?  That signifies a reality that advertising and other commercial ventures must be harnessed in order to provide some recompense for the increasing cost of webhosting for larger and larger websites.

The content of the site will retain the objectives established at ToffeeWeb.  During the transition period, some older content will still be found at the old ToffeeWeb.org domain.  We hope for your continued support, and we want to encourage your feedback, particularly if you experience problems browsing the site.

We have created this website as a totality of what WE want from an Everton website.  Let us make it even better by telling us what you would like to improve the site.
