Patrizio Pascucci - Striker | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Patrizo Pascucci was signed by David Moyes after a long trail that began in July 2003 at the pre-season training camp in Austria. Initial indications were that David Moyes was unimpressed, and that the young Italian would soon be on his way. But his name kept appearing on teamsheets and among the goalscorers throughout the pre-season period, and at the start of the season he was still around. Finally, as the first team squad was confirmed following the closure of the transfer window on 2 September 2003, there he was with a shirt and a squad number. He played for both the Under-19 Youth Academy team and the Reserves, banging in a decent number of goals at this level, but it was not enough to impress David Moyes. However, it seems as though the Italian wasn't deemed good enough by the club as he was released in the summer of 2004, rumoured to have had trials with Oostende in Belgium and Chester City. Nothing was heard of him until an obscure Italian report in March 2005 indicated that he had got into trouble playing for the Primavera (ie, Youth) team of Italian Serie C Club, Sora. There was a ruling by the league's disciplinary committee regarding an appeal by Sora to reduce a suspension Pascucci had received for an incident during a match against Bari in December 2004. During the game, Pascucci apparently said some nasty things and threw the ball at one of the linesmen, and for that, he received a suspension until 28 Feb 2005. The suspension was reduced slightly (apparently because he said he was really really sorry) until 18 Feb. Pascucci is still only 19 but whatever the scouts saw in him must have quickly evaporated.
