Paul reports on Denmark v Czechia. |

Day 19: Sunday 28 June 2004 |
Denmark dominated the first half against Czechia but didn't really look like scoring. The Czechs defended well. Three quick goals it's all over, I am sure at least one of them could have been stopped. The Czechs took their opportunities. Along with the Greeks ["only here to make up the numbers, eh?] they are the best organised side, they seem to block so many shots. With Jan Koller playing you could expect lots of high and hopeful balls. Well done Czechia, they played it on the ground, he like our big man is pretty useful on the deck. I hope one day we at Everton get the ball down. Our 'big one' usually finds a blue shirt when he gets ball to feet. Moment of the match for me was when Tommy Gravesen instantly controlled an over-hit corner then sent an inch-perfect 60-yard pass to Tomasson. Tommy also gave Heinz a warm welcome. The commentary team couldn't believe it when Gronkjaer got Nedved booked. That booking should be rescinded. So unlike Jesper to do this — remember the time when he got Unsworth sent off? Markus Merk has been chosen to referee the final. I rate Merk; he did a good job in the England v France match. He only booked three players and let the game flow. Let the referees control the game. Today. More nonsense in the press, more of that tomorrow. No football tonight. I don't know what I will do. Perhaps enter all the Win Two Tickets for the Final competitions... and brace myself for the tidal wave of spam that will surely follow. Paul Watson |
