Arsenal revive deadline-day Arteta move

31/08/2011 |   Comments () :  Add your Comments
With the deal seemingly dead a couple of hours before the deadline, Arsenal have resurrected talks with Mikel Arteta, with BBC correspondent Dan Roan tweeting that the Spaniard has asked to leave Everton. The Blues have apparently accepted a 10m offer for the Basque playmaker and it looks very much like the 29 year-old could be heading south after all...

Elsewhere, Jermaine Beckford has completed a reported 4.5m move to Leicester and there are unconfirmed reports that Yakubu has passed a medical at Blackburn ahead of a 1.5m switch to Ewood Park. Moyes looks to have landed 23 year-old Argentine striker Denis Stracqualursi on a season-long loan, with Sky Sports reporting he underwent a medical this afternoon but there is no confirmation. Rumours persist, meanwhile, that Royston Drenthe could arrive on a free transfer from Real Madrid before the evening is out as he too is holding talks over personal terms.
