The list of players that Everton registered with the Premier League following the closure of the transfer window has been released.

Having been omitted in September, Luke Garbutt makes the squad this time.

The list of players submitted was as follows:

Leighton Baines
Yannick Bolasie
Seamus Coleman
Ramiro Funes Mori
Luke Garbutt
Idrissa Gueye
Phil Jagielka
Michael Keane
Davy Klaassen
Eliaquim Mangala
Cuco Martina
James McCarthy
Oumar Niasse
Jordan Pickford
Joel Robles
Wayne Rooney
Morgan Schneiderlin
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Maarten Stekelenburg
Cenk Tosun

Ashley Williams

Academy products under the age of 24 like Beni Baningime, Tom Davies, Mason Holgate and Jonjoe Kenny do not have to be among the registered 25 names.

I fear he won't play though. Though Martina did well at left-back on Wednesday, he was up against a fairly limited (but consistent) Albrighton.

Against a better player a more balanced, natural left-back is needed – and I'd like to see Luke given a chance!

Me too, Robert, but we are out of both cups, oops 3 cups; so he needs to impress in training.

I don't rate Garbutt very highly at all. In fact, I've never seen him make a tackle. I don't think he's anywhere near good enough for the Premier League.

Yes, his left foot is better than Martina's, but he is not a good defender. Everyone seems to see him as far better than he actually is, simply because they want anyone with a left foot to come in and replace Martina.

Hopefully Baines will be back soon and we won't need to worry about it until the summer. I think Martina was excellent on Wednesday and there is no way he'll be replaced by Garbutt unless he gets injured.

Also, 'fans' need to show some support to Martina. The guy gets way too much abuse/criticism and must walk out onto the Goodison pitch a nervous wreck. He's performing a difficult task and deserves more respect.

So it doesn't appear to include Nikola Vlašić.

That list only has 22 players on it.

Ian (#4),

Yes strange, yet it does include James McCarthy who surely won't play a part for the rest of this season.

Lawrence and Chris. Methinks this is not the correct list. As you point out, James McCarthy is included and only 22 players..

Ian and Lawrence, Vlašić isn't there for the same reason Tom Davies and Calvert-Lewin aren't. U21 players don't need to be included.

Ian#7 Looks like the list is the official one according to the Premier League site.

Lawrence @6, my thoughts exactly, a similar injury to Seamus, who was out for 10 months or thereabouts.

Similarly Ian @4, no Vlasic, which seems odd as well. It strikes me too, on the subject of absentees, where is Beni Baningime? I do like that lad and would have him, if fit, all day long before the ineffective Schneiderlin.

I was reading too that there was an offer to swap Schneiderlin on deadline day with Brozovic; I fail to see why they declined that one.

Thanks Lawrence. Had looked that up on the Premier League website as well. Was about to post the list.

For anyone who was as confused as I was, here's the rest of the info...

After the closing of the January transfer window each Premier League club had until 12:00 GMT, 2 February to submit a squad list containing no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.

The remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be homegrown.

An HGP means a player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Changes to the squad list of 25 may be made during the period of a transfer window.

Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. For 2017/18 Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 1996.

Each club squad list is below as well as an additional list of each club’s registered Under-21 players who are eligible over and above the squad limit of 25 players.

I'd like to see 3 at the back with him and Coleman further forward:

Pickford

Holgate
Keane
Mangala

Coleman
Garbutt

Gana

Davies
Sigurdsson
Walcott

Tosun

I read that as Vlasic can play then as he's 20 – am I wrong?

25 man list of senior players plus any youth (ie born after 1/1/96) players can play for us in the Premier League.

Therefore JMc isn't keeping anyone from being registered who could play.

I've said before we should play the majority of away games 5 at the back.

Personly I'm not convinced at this stage Pickford is better than Robles but I guess it's about potential, gaining experience to improve.

Away 5-3-1-1
GK
Coleman, Holgate or Martina, Jags, Mangala, Garbutt (should be Galloway).
Davies, Gana, Sig or Rooney.
Walcott.
Tosun.

HOME 4-4-1-1
GK
Coleman, Jags, Mangala, Martina.
Walcott, Davies, Gana, Bolasie.
Sig.
Tosun.

Rooney and Sig to rotate games.
Happy to sub either for Walcott when we need to control the game.
Tosun to be given a chance but..
Niasse may be clumsy but he works hard and has the ability/luck to score goals.

I think DCL has had a good season. Much better in the centre as completely wasted on left wing but he's young and like Walcott has had to, learning all the fwd positions is something he should be doing to improve his game. So he's also due game time as sub for Tosun.

Vlasic I like a lot, (a better prospect than Sandro) sub for Walcott, Bolasie, Rooney.

Watched Bristol v Bolton today and was not impressed with Bryan at all in fact Antonee Robinson on loan at Bolton looked the better LB.

Only one game I know but it was interesting to look at the 2 lads over 90 minutes.
