Local lad, Chris Lane, went to school in the Walton area and attended
Everton's Centre of Excellence as a 9-year-old. While attending Alsop
HS, he became captain of Liverpool Boys and Merseyside Schools. Playing his
way up through the Everton Youth System since joining as a YTS trainee in
1995, Chris came into contention for a place in the 1996-97 reserve team
for Pontins League matches.
During the 1997-98 season, Chris Lane was given a Premiership squad number and consolidated his position in the reserves, but was unable to break into the first team. After a series of loans and trials with other clubs, he was released at the end of the season.
