Eli Campbell signed his first professional contract for Everton in June 2022 with a 3-year deal running through June 2025.
His first exposure to the Under-18s was while he was still 15 as an unused sub at the Academy of Light in February 2020, when Everton won 7-2. The following season, after his 16th birthday, he would go on to establish himself in the Under-18s.
Campbell played most of his games for the U23s at left-back / wing-back last season. He's not as tall as Welch, but is more powerfully built.
He looked surprisingly good as a wing-back, showing a lot of skill, but he doesn't have the outright pace to become a good one.
If he continues to bulk up with the U21s, he can be a good centre-back or full-back. And if Jarrad Branthwaite goes out on loan, then Campbell may see a pathway open up to first-team squad training.
