Match Preview

Preparations for the new season continue tonight with a trip north of the border for Everton, and let's hope the fuss over Andy van der Meyde and his alleged drinks-spiking episode does not represent a distraction from the more important business at hand

Match Action: Live on Everton TV?

Tony Hibbert will miss tonight's trip to Pittodrie as he is still feeling the effects of the virus that troubled him during the tour to America, while Simon Davies is unlikely to play after suffering a minor right ankle injury but should be available for Saturday's friendly with Athletic Bilbao.  David Weir (groin) and Victor Anichebe (ankle) are doubtful, although Nuno Valente is in line to make his first pre-season appearance.  James Vaughan resumes training this week and will not be fit enough for consideration.
