Alan Irvine took a few of the Everton first-team squad and a host of kids from the Academy to play in a friendly game to kick off pre-season 2007 while the rest of the squad went over to play Northern Ireland, starting just an hour later.
Victor Anichebe nearly scored in the first minute.
John Ruddy didn't have much to do but one attack after 20 mins looked to have taken him by surprise until it ran away fro a goalkick. Neville and Anichebe set up Jutkiewicz but he fluffed it badly wide. Best chance of the game!
Jutkiewicz did get on the scoreline in the second half when he got on the end of a corner from Morrison and delivered a weak header beyond the goalkeeper and into the net.
No other goals, not much action to speak of, and no substitutions for Everton. The excitement was suddenly all over.
Michael Kenrick
