Everton U18s were knocked out this season's FA Youth Cup at the first hurdle by Ipswich Town at Goodison Park tonight.
The first half was a cagey affair, with real chances at a premium, despite the home side dominating possession. But the visitors scored soon after the restart to put the blues behind.
As the half continued, the visitors went further ahead when El Mizouni found the bottom corner of Hansen's net with a drilled effort from 20 yards after the Everton keeper, Hansen, had just made a great save to keep the deficit down to one goal.
But the Blues responded well with Mampala's shot-turned-cross falling into the path of substitute Adedoyin, who tapped in from close-range. However, it proved too little, too late with Everton failing to progress for another year.
Everton U18s: Hansen, Moore, Anderson, Collins, Richards, Denny, Iversen, Kerr (65' Adedoyin), Mampala (88' Scully), Gordon (84' Simms), Duke-McKenna. Subs not Used: Hilton, Warren.
