Now they lost their winger to a groin pull. Bill Gall 3 Posted 23/09/2023 at 15:47:09 Wolves player gets a red card against Luton score 0/0 Dale Self 4 Posted 24/09/2023 at 14:02:12 I suppose if Bournemouth wins that would completely erase what was achieved in the capital yesterday. Cmon Gulls Dale Self 5 Posted 24/09/2023 at 14:28:17 Brighton could be showing early signs of Eurosclerosis. Keeper howler gifts a goal to Bournemouth 0-1 Cherries darling Rob Halligan 6 Posted 24/09/2023 at 14:57:41 Dale, Brighton have made nine changes to their starting line up today, though I don't know if it's strengthened or weakened their team, but it clearly shows a total lack of respect to Bournemouth. Somehow, I can't see Brighton being anywhere near the top seven or eight this season. See they have now equalised, but if they want to throw all their eggs into the Europa League basket, then their league form / position could suffer as a consequence. Rob Halligan 7 Posted 24/09/2023 at 14:59:05 West Ham have also equalised. ðŸ‘ðŸ‘👠Dale Self 8 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:09:51 Rob, just got back to see that Mitoma goal, nice play into the box. The system prevails. They did look dispirited after Athens so this bodes well for them. Paul Ferry 9 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:11:57 pen surely Paul Ferry 10 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:13:46 romero og / pen/ yellow Joe McMahon 11 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:17:01 He couldn't move his arm as he was falling, yet again VAR and referee give in to Sky 4,5,6 or whatever it is these days. Paul Ferry 12 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:17:35 Brilliant by Maddison. Paul Ferry 13 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:18:16 That had to be given Joe. Paul Ferry 14 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:24:59 shite 2-1 Dale Self 15 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:28:27 Chelsea with nothing at home. Screw the Poch. Update: 0-1 Villa. This is where Poch starts to grow those anxiety tits. He'll need to stop wearing sweaters and go with the suit. Paul Ferry 16 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:31:05 maddison down, best player this season so far Paul Ferry 17 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:32:51 if we think we have issues, look at those fecking chavs, and they have faie finance looming too Rob Halligan 18 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:37:09 Joe, seeing as these two teams are part of the so called big six, VAR was always going to favour one of the so called sky darlings over that penalty decision. Though I fail to see how Spurs, big club my arse, are considered one of the so called big six teams? Dale Self 19 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:38:20 That was a nice Brighton third. Mitoma the Magician. 3-1 Paul Ferry 20 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:38:33 Brighton don't seem to be doing too bad really, 3-1. They will finish top 6. Paul Ferry 21 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:48:17 Havertz by far - so far - worst big money buy of the window? Dale Self 22 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:49:14 They serm to be impressively moving toward a rotation that works. With a decent Europa run they'll be able to sell without disrupting their style of play. Fuckers. Paul, I'm sticking with Hojlund. That was a panic buy I think. Havertz might eventually fit in that Arse system. Eddie Dunn 23 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:53:21 Thought Saka was going to die after that, but he's up again! Paul Ferry 24 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:54:57 Great shout Dale on Hojlund. Brighton are just Brighton. Brighton ought to be a verb or adjective. A model club. But we're still the best. Paul Ferry 25 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:55:57 10 minutes add ons at Arsenal. Insane. Joe McMahon 26 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:56:35 Rob, you are absolutely correct both Sky Darling teams. I suppose in reference to the "Big teams" argument it's because in the last 15 years they have played in the champions league a few times, even making a final about 4 years ago (I think). Paul Ferry 27 Posted 24/09/2023 at 15:59:31 Like it or not - I do not - Spuds are in the Sky 6, stadium doesn't harm them. Maddison will also be the buy/steal of the window. Paul Ferry 28 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:00:46 Moyes's good record over there continues. Dale Self 29 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:05:08 So Spurs took Johnson from Forest? And why is Ange trying to look like Dyche? Get yer own look Paul Ferry 30 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:07:56 If anyone has a trademark look it's our Sean who always - ALWAYS - irons in his undies, making those seven short ties perfect. Dale Self 31 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:08:55 That fucking short tie kills me. Paul Ferry 32 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:15:07 Piece of perfect tailoring, sits there like a beautiful white swan on a beautiful lake. Dale Self 33 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:15:13 Okay I know 15th feels really good and cumfy but I'm so assured by our performance yesterday that I'm back to my full hate level for Newcastle. Come on Blades! Make Newcastle hire Potter. Please let it happen. Dave Abrahams 34 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:16:45 Paul (10), Romero, o/g, yellow card, gave a penalty away and finished up with the captain's arm band, I thought he was a nap to score the winner for Spurs!! Paul Ferry 35 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:17:29 We currently have more points than the promoted/bottom three combined Dale and it needs to stay that way mate. Poor old Anthony on the bench. Paul Ferry 36 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:18:29 Dave, I smiled when he got that yellow and when he thought he had a second yellow until his mate in black reassured him that all was fine. Stu Gore 37 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:22:44 Nice to see Chelsea trying for media Crisis club this week. Maybe they'll give us a breather. Paul Ferry 38 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:23:12 Horrible, a 26-year-old Sheff-Utd player died a couple of days ago. Truly humbling. Puts everything in proportion and its proper place. RIP. Lovely tribute. Paul Ferry 39 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:24:18 Stu, I think, all things considered, they are in worse shape than us and one point ahead: wait until 606. Paul Ferry 40 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:27:19 Twenty-seven, sorry. Dale Self 41 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:35:56 I don't know Paul. Christmas is the earliest I can do table freakout. I'm using the space to voodoo the fuck out of the back codes. Blades with a decent chance early. Paul Ferry 42 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:38:13 Yep, geordies a little shaky at the bacck there, although I'm a tad surprised they don't keep more clean sheets with that back 5 Dale Self 43 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:40:19 Gordinho! Barnes down. Paul Ferry 44 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:42:10 They look like bees those skunks. Dale Self 45 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:47:23 Decent low rent stuff from Blades Paul Ferry 46 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:49:20 Always thought that Norwood is a very decent and tidy player, Paul Ferry 47 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:50:43 I know he bangs in a few goals, but I've never thought that Wilson is anywhere near a top striker, so he will bag a hat-trick today no doubt. Dale Self 48 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:53:17 Didnt that go off Gordinho's hand at the by-line? Paul Ferry 49 Posted 24/09/2023 at 16:59:10 yer go downstairs to ground yer beans and the skunks only go and score Dale Self 50 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:02:35 Yep and then a weird corner that possibly had an offside and another goal. I'm off for a bike ride, see you Paul. Fuck the skunks. Paul Ferry 51 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:04:15 will he ever get an easier header than that? Paul Ferry 52 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:04:36 enjoy mate Paul Hewitt 53 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:08:25 Luton, Sheffield and Burnley are the reason Everton won't go down this season. I think 32 points will keep you safe this season. Jim Bennings 54 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:08:40 On the plus side it's looks like being just one place to join Luton and Sheff Utd this season for relegation. Paul Ferry 55 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:10:31 Try 28 or lower. Promoted three P 16 W 0 D 3 L 13 F 12 A 36 PTS 3 Jim Bennings 56 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:10:36 PaulDefinitely feels like every season now the bar gets lower in terms of Premier League survival I agree.I recall one season when West Ham got relegated with 42 points, might have been 2002/03 season I think. Paul Ferry 57 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:11:17 Worst promoted three ever? Paul Hewitt 58 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:16:01 Might change Burnley for Chelsea. There in a worse mess than us Barry Hesketh 59 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:16:41 Hopefully, there won't be a need for Everton to have just the three worse teams than us category, I'm hoping to see six or seven below us this season. Burnley, I see something about them and they might have a run of unbeaten matches in them. Luton we'll find out next week, how good or bad we are. Brentford could be one team that struggles this season, perhaps alongside Palace and who knows Chelsea? Paul Ferry 60 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:25:36 Bournemouth Barry. Rob Halligan 61 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:26:16 And wolves. Paul Ferry 62 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:30:45 Yep. Paul Ferry 63 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:31:38 It's good to know that we will kick off at the Dock in the Premier League, but we knew that. Brent Stephens 64 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:54:42 Tom Davies on for Sheffiled. I'd forgotten all about him. Joe McMahon 65 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:54:46 FFS, Gordon wasn't shooting like this in an Everton shirt. Stu Gore 66 Posted 24/09/2023 at 17:58:06 He did for a bit. Just stopped trying once he'd dyed his barnet. Sheff are the poorest side I have ever seen. Did they lose a bunch of players after promotion? Peter Mills 67 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:00:09 Gordon makes it 5 for Newcastle as the Blades prepare to bring on Tom Davies. Ray Roche 68 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:00:34 How poor do Sheffield look? They're rank. Rob Halligan 69 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:04:00 Haha……looked like Tom Davies tried to take Anthony Gordon out just then. Rob Halligan 70 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:04:44 FFS……SEVEN! Paul Ferry 71 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:04:47 3 points from 16 games for bottom 3 who collectively are 1 point behind us and people think we might get relegated? Jim Bennings 72 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:06:18 Think sometimes we have a misperception on what Gordon did or didn't do at Everton. The Gordon I recall under Benitez worked his arse off but was rather raw and frustrating in terms of end product, pretty much the same under Lampard but we knew he was a threat at least with his direct running. We are probably seeing a better player under a more stable club setup now. Brian Williams 73 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:06:35 The more the merrier for us! Anyone around that bottom five or six, we want to 'em to get battered. 😠Paul Ferry 74 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:07:22 What's the record Prem win? Must be against us coz we're shite. Paul Ferry 75 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:08:19 bottom 3 conceded 40 in 16, scored 12 Paul Ferry 76 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:09:37 You bastard Halligan you got Trippier in your FPL team. Rob Halligan 77 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:10:55 Yeah Paul, and just need a Sheffield united goal now! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Paul Hewitt 78 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:11:04 Sheffield might get the new manager bounce. Cuz this one is getting sacked Paul Ferry 79 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:11:35 Sick, just sick Paul Ferry 80 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:12:38 the new gaffer bounce is utterly over-rated Paul Ferry 81 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:13:10 It's doing well for the Chavs! Come on Schar you twat, score Brian Williams 82 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:13:21 9-0's the record. Paul Ferry 83 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:14:36 Was gonna get Trippier in but plumped for Schar as I want money for a striker Paul Ferry 84 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:15:00 Thanks Brian! Who beat us by that much? Brian Williams 85 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:16:10 It wasn't us, as well you know. 😳 Paul Ferry 86 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:16:45 There's always next week. Stu Gore 87 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:16:46 Is it the stripes adding 2 stone to Davies or has he porked up from all that time on our bench? Rob Halligan 88 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:17:13 Nearly Tom……keep going lad it will come! Paul Ferry 89 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:17:55 This time last year AG and TD were playing for the same club. Vive la difference! Brian Williams 90 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:18:09 8 Paul Ferry 91 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:18:13 He never did that for us! Paul Ferry 92 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:18:46 I'm behind on stream, for the love of Christ tell me it was Schar Rob Halligan 93 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:19:37 8-0 and eight different scorers. Will be complete humiliation for Sheffield united if the skunks are awarded a penalty and Pope takes it. Paul Ferry 94 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:20:06 Schar should take it Paul Ferry 95 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:20:34 Well that one was down to Tom Jeff Armstrong 96 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:20:37 It was Schar Is that ok PF? Paul Ferry 97 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:21:09 thanks Jeff, that's 5 for me Brian Williams 98 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:22:29 Jeff! 🤥 Paul Ferry 99 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:23:04 Do you enjoy pulling legs off spiders Jeff/Rob? Dave Abrahams 100 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:23:57 Paul (84), they once beat us 8-2 on the day Dave Hickson scored two for Liverpool on his debut after leaving us, I was at Anfield that day as they beat Aston Villa 2-1, this was a 2nd. division game. Paul Ferry 101 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:25:43 Love your information Dave. Did you used to do the one weekend here one weekend there routine or was that a one-off? Rob Halligan 102 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:29:05 Think Schar was the only outfield player not involved in any of the goals. Paul Ferry 103 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:29:37 think you're right you smug xxxxxxxxx Paul Ferry 104 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:30:17 It's not even worth booing, the hurt is too much Rob Halligan 105 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:36:49 Sheff. Utd away to West Ham next week. Burnley away to the skunks, and wolves play Man City. All three probably favourites to lose, and if we beat Luton then there could already be a bit of a gap opening up for the bottom three. Still very early doors, I know, but we've seen how these gaps can get wider and wider if any teams go on a losing run. Paul Ferry 106 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:39:45 IF Rob! Same thing is happening at the top of the Championship where three teams are pulling away already. Dave Abrahams 107 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:41:47 Paul (101) Yes it was pretty regular to both grounds on alternative weeks although I was seventeen then so went to plenty of away games around that time, there was quite a few Bluenoses at that game to watch Dave Hickson and some of us were a bit pissed off that Everton had sold him. Some of my best mates supported Liverpool so they would come to Goodison to watch the Blues as I went to Anfield with them, different in those days, plenty of arguments but no fisticuffs!! Rob Halligan 108 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:43:53 Sorry Paul, I meant when we beat Luton! Paul Ferry 109 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:44:16 I love watching Dave Hickson on film Dave. Comes across as a diehard blue. How come he was transferred and to them? Nice story about the weekends, I tried to do Everton and Marine! Paul Ferry 110 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:47:38 I was about to call the mods to say that someone had hacked into your account. Ed Prytherch 111 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:49:11 Tom Davies has leapt out of the frying pan and into the fire. He might be reunited with Matty Pennington at Blackpool next season. Dave Abrahams 112 Posted 24/09/2023 at 18:58:18 Paul (109), Harry Catterick, Everton's manager, didn't want Hickson and Liverpool did so he went for around £12,000 although Catterick suggested to Liverpool an exchange with Roger Hunt, who was just starting his career, coming to Everton, no chance. You had a good choice with Marine, right on your doorstep, my mate, Ben Forster, played for them and a lad I worked with, Graham Trowler, played for quite a few seasons with Marine, a good strong right back.this would be in the 1960's. Paul Ferry 113 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:03:08 Roger Hunt might have softened the blow a little, I imagine. Used to love going to Marine as a little lad Dave, 1973ish on. Billy Morrey - fast as a lorry - was my hero, and the shop at half-time for some sort of hot meaty drink and checking how we were doing! Brian Denton 114 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:06:02 Which is the only team to not beat Sheff Utd this season? Alan McGuffog 115 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:06:09 Dave,I never thought Hickson was around when Catterick was in charge. I would have thought it was Johnny Carey? The taxi for Carey was in '61? I would have loved Roger Hunt mind you! Dave Abrahams 116 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:10:55 Paul (113) Roger Hunt? Yes definitely, a very good footballer and a gent as well. That hot drink you got was Bovril most probably, 1973 wasn't a good time for the Blues although we could have won the title, with Billy Bingham as manager, one season, Carlisle Utd beat us twice that season which didn't do a lot for out title challenge! Brent Stephens 117 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:11:27 Only 2 teams have beaten Brentford this season? Barry Rathbone 118 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:15:40 Wonder why the bar codes have transformed from absolute non entities to Champions League performers who knock in eight at Sheffield whilst Everton have done the reverse? Email answers to "findasheikh@google.co.uk" Sean Mitchell 119 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:22:18 Has Tom Davies been dining at Greggs in Sheffield? Paul Ferry 120 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:28:05 Bovril, thank you! That was a season when we could have won the league and I used to score high points on my - I think it was - General Progress Papers at Ursuline CP and I was in love with Helen Parry! Barry Hesketh 121 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:29:54 Dave @112I think your memory is playing tricks on you, I agree that Hickson left for Liverpool in November 1959, Catterick was manager of Sheffield Wednesday at that time, he joined Everton as manager in April 1961. So Johnny Carey must have been the manager interested in Hunt, when Hickson was sold. As a side note, Shankly joined Liverpool a few days after Hickson what an epoch making end to the Fifties, that was. Roger Hunt had only joined the other lot in the summer of 1958, unlikely, even then to be swapped for an Everton player, even in those days, I would have thought.Hickson was undoubtedly revered at Everton, but equally despised by the red half of the city. Supporters of the Reds, then struggling in Division Two, would soon be appeased. Hickson scored twice on his Liverpool debut at Anfield, watched by a crowd 15,000 higher than the average that season. Days later Liverpool had a new manager, Bill Shankly. Shankly had previously managed Hickson at Huddersfield and again made effective use of Hickson's style. Tony Abrahams 122 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:36:23 Interesting, Barry, considering the Geordies probably haven't even got started with regards to their newly found spending capabilities. Money is everything, but only if it's spent wisely, by professional people who have got a well-thought-out plan.Moshiri's plan was that he didn't want us to take up to much of his time, so he either left a patronizing, self-serving, incompetent fraud in charge, or was only allowed to buy Everton if he agreed to let a patronizing, self-serving, incompetent fraud stay in charge.I think logic actually points to it being Usmanov's club, but whoever owns Everton has completely messed up the job, because they have lacked genuine professionalism. No question. Robert Tressell 123 Posted 24/09/2023 at 19:55:14 There will be all sorts of twists and turns in the season but the table is already showing some early signs. - The three promoted sides are obviously struggling. All have weak sides and inexperienced managers at this level. Kompany can get them playing pretty football but he's never dug a side out of a losing run and might be out of his depth. They're missing Harwood-Bellis and Tella from last season. Sheff Utd are missing Ndiaye from last season and their manager must be close to the sack after today. Luton are a third tier side that have massively overachieved. They will finish bottom. - Bournemouth have a reasonable squad (probably as good as ours) but an inexperienced manager for the Premier League. They might improve but will still struggle. We're better placed than them despite plenty of quality in their squad.- Wolves are playing like a side that lost their best players and haven't replaced the old guard of Rui Patricio, Boly, Neves, Moutinho, Traore and Jiminez. It's a good job Neto is performing. O'Neill might be the manager for a bounce, but not for the season. I expect him to be sacked and replaced in due course. In that context, I think we'll do okay with Dyche. We're well organised defensively and sides in trouble usually aren't. We won't score bags of goals but will do okay with Beto, DCL, Danjuma, McNeil and Harrison soon too.I predicted 13th at the season start and still stand by that. Bit crap obviously but an improvement and a platform. Dave Abrahams 124 Posted 24/09/2023 at 20:03:47 Barry (121), yes that makes sense, but what was the supporter with a banner on the pitch with “ Caterick out “ complaining about, Caterick is the wrong spelling but the supporter had spelt it with one ‘t', by the way although Shankly managed Davie at Huddersfield I think it was Andy Beattie who bought him from Aston Villa. My memory is definitely playing tricks with me, maybe the banner was over him dropping Alex Young and playing Joe Royle although that was years later, 1966.I was at Shankly's first game at Anfield as manager of Liverpool they got hammered 4-0 by Cardiff City!! Paul Ferry 125 Posted 24/09/2023 at 20:11:32 Hearing about that 4-0 thumping has made my day! Did you cheer the Cardiff goals Dave? Dave Abrahams 126 Posted 24/09/2023 at 20:26:57 Paul (125), Well I was with my mates so couldn't rub it in too much and any time Liverpool get beat is enough enjoyment for me and keeping quiet rubs it in maybe more!! Lev Vellene 127 Posted 24/09/2023 at 20:56:27 At some VERY other point in time, I would have felt very sorry for Sheffield United! But I just can't, quite yet...Although I can't see any way for EFC to win the league, I sort of think the team's woeful start to the season, and then its progression with finally winning, might look a lot like the Kendall Team of '83/84. But today I guess we'll have to be happy to get up above 10 to gulp some top-tasting air... ;P Peter Mills 128 Posted 24/09/2023 at 21:36:37 Paul#113, I was at Marine on a Sunday some months ago watching my grandsons train and got talking to a couple standing next to me - turned out they were members of Billy Morrey's family on a sentimental return from abroad to College Road. They said Billy is still going, not quite as mobile as he once was, I told them what a good player he was. Dave Abrahams 129 Posted 24/09/2023 at 22:21:20 Paul Tran 130 Posted 24/09/2023 at 22:33:52 Billy Morrey? Now he was a fine winger!
