Not so much the finish by Trossard, but the build-up play, led by Declan Rice. Paul Ferry 2 Posted 23/04/2024 at 20:22:58 Trossard can't stop scoring. Paul Ferry 3 Posted 23/04/2024 at 20:58:41 Chelsea's defending is shocking. The full-backs are having a competition to see who can get sent off first (I would not let Cururella start the second half). Paul Ferry 4 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:11:37 Cucurella again. He's lost it. He has to go off surely Rob Halligan 5 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:14:34 Two quick fire goals for Arsenal to lead 3-0. Brilliant pass by Odegaard to Havertz for the third. Andy Meighan 6 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:15:29 Is it me or does anyone else think that Saka is vastly overrated.I really can't see what people see in him. Dale Self 7 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:15:54 Well, that escalated quickly. Paul Ferry 8 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:16:07 Thing of beauty that pass Rob. Danny O’Neill 9 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:17:58 Odegaard is a great player. Rob Halligan 10 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:22:44 4-0 now. Arsenal's goal difference is worth a point. Rob Halligan 11 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:24:38 Chelsea make two subs after the Arsenal fourth goal. Removing two players worth close to £200M. Obscene!! Paul Ferry 12 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:25:10 Andy! Saka is class mate. And he makes a goal. Cutting in from the right, no one better. Tony Abrahams 13 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:25:47 Last week, it looked like Bayern Munich had decided that, if you stop Odegaard, you stop Arsenal, so I'm just glad Chelsea couldn't stop him tonight. Paul Ferry 14 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:28:15 Table looks so much better at both ends! Rob Halligan 15 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:28:16 What a ridiculous goal by Ben White. Delicate chip by Odegaard and Ben White just side foots a volley from an angle into the back of the net. 5-0. Paul Ferry 16 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:30:34 I'm smiling. Ben White is in my FPL team. John Ronnie 17 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:31:09 Hope Chelsea get beat 6-0 … seems appropriate. Paul Ferry 18 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:39:59 I'm just relieved that we will be safe by the time we have to go to the Emirates. What a goal that would have been! Brent Stephens 19 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:40:28 5-0 and 5-0! Anthony A Hughes 20 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:40:31 How bad were we last week if this garbage Chelsea team put 6 past us! Paul Ferry 21 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:43:37 Chelsea murdered Man City in the first half on Saturday, but this Palmer-less Chelsea are shite, second-best in every aspect of the game. Anthony A Hughes 22 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:47:55 Odegard is on another planet as a footballer. Paul Ferry 23 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:51:02 Arsenal still need an out-and-out striker. Strength and depth everywhere except there. That defence is starting to look like Sansom, Adams, Keown, Winterburn. Remember when Arsenal were interested in Calvert-Lewin? Rob Halligan 24 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:57:21 Spurs and Man Utd both away for Arsenal, could be very difficult for them. Still reckon City will win it. Anthony A Hughes 25 Posted 23/04/2024 at 21:58:50 Anyone but the Shite Paul Ferry 27 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:06:28 Man U will not be a problem for Arsenal Rob; Spurs will for the same reason that only a fool would say that the shite will deffo beat us tomorrow. I expect Aresenal to beat Spurs but City have Brighton, Forest, Wolves, Fulham, West Ham, and wannabee Spuds. Agree with Rob, City will win the title, although it would be nice if the top scorers won it. Dave Abrahams 28 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:31:57 This could go to the end of the season with goal average deciding the eventual title winners so Arsenal would be favourites there. When was the last time the title was decided on goal difference / average? I remember Leeds coming second to Man.Unt.(?) the same year they were runners up in the FA cup to Chelsea? or someone else but it was on goal difference that that they lost out on the title. Paul Ferry 29 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:34:24 Dave A, Didn't Man City win the title on goal difference from Man Utd? ("Aguero"!!!!) Dave Abrahams 30 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:36:23 Paul (29) Maybe Paul, I'd say no but I really don't know. Paul Ferry 31 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:41:02 Yep Dave. 2011-2012.1 Manchester City 38 28 5 5 93 29 +64 892 Manchester United 38 28 5 5 89 33 +56 89 Dave Abrahams 32 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:50:53 Paul (29) I checked up and was just going to tell you that you were correct but you've done the honours, One of the closest was a great night for Evertonians when Thomas scored the winner for Arsenal in the last minute of the season at Anfield and The Gunners won it on goal difference.I was talking to Brian Labone in town that day and Brian had a tenner @ 14-1 on Arsenal to beat Liverpool 2-0. I went safety first and had a few pound on Arsenal to just win the game, and I think we all remember Steve McMahon going round the Liverpool players with one finger up indicating there was only a minute left in the game, there was and what a fuckin' lovely minute it was! Paul Ferry 33 Posted 23/04/2024 at 22:55:48 It was on a Friday night right Dave, or am I wrong? I remember watching it in Cambridge. It was even better than the 1988 cup final. Love the Brian Labone story love the thought of you bumping into him in town. Used to see a lot of him with Gordon West in Crosby/Waterloo. I still watch that match now and then and still get a thrill when Thomas scores. This is why I just don't get it when someone on here says they don't care about them. Anti-shite is part of our natural identity as Evertonians; just like anti-Catholicism (sorry DA) was in Protestant Elizabethan England. Dave Abrahams 34 Posted 23/04/2024 at 23:10:50 Paul (33),Yes it was on a Friday night. I worked in town at the time working on a fruit barra and Brian used to come and buy some fruit and we ‘d have a good chat, he fuckin' hated Liverpool more than me, God bless him, but he would never say a word about any Everton player, never! Even when I put words in his mouth and tell him come on Brian you know I'm telling the truth he'd just smile but would never admit it. Sensible really because it would mean if he did have a go I could say “ You know what Brian Labone said about so and so†Not that I would I'd of course!, Paul Ferry 35 Posted 23/04/2024 at 23:13:21 Lovely story Dave. Priceless. Imagine Onana and Young heading down Church Street looking for a fruit barra. Tom Bowers 36 Posted 23/04/2024 at 23:24:11 Tremendous performance by the Gunners.Chelsea without Palmer were toothless. Pity he played against us last week.My beef is still VAR. They cocked up again in this match with some blatantly obvious incidents especially the first goal by Havertz which should have been canceled because of a foul leading up to it. How could VAR have missed that. I am beginning to think that the officiating behind VAR is so inept it should all be scrapped next season.Well done Arsenal. Pity we have to play them in the last game but hopefully we will be safe by then. Dave Abrahams 37 Posted 23/04/2024 at 23:27:07 Paul ( 35) I could tell you some stories of the semi famous people who came to the barra or passed it and the banter me and mate had with them, Grobblar, Alex Murphy, Kendall, Barbara Windsor ( lovely story that about big pears or pairs) Gary Ablott, great fella, Andy King desperate for a ten pence coin to phone his agent, I never got that back, bastard! and Eartha Kitt the singer, my mate had a few words with her and she looked down her nose at him and ignored him personally, hard faced mare! But that's enough for tonight I've got to get my beauty sleep and get ready for tomorrow nights victory. Kunal Desai 38 Posted 24/04/2024 at 07:53:06 Lovely to see Arsenal smash 5 past the chavs. I bet they're not so chirpy now, plastic club.I really want the Gooners to win the Premier League. Soft spot for them, if I wasn't a Toffee, I would have most certainly been a Gooner. Joe McMahon 39 Posted 24/04/2024 at 08:33:57 Kunal, a Gooner, seriously? Doesn't that result just underline how pathetic Everton and Pickford were last week though. Christopher Timmins 40 Posted 24/04/2024 at 09:19:29 Joe, in fairness to Dyche, the Chelsea result was not representative of our season to date. The squad lacks quality but the number of clean sheets and goals conceded speaks for itself after 33 games. Kunal Desai 41 Posted 24/04/2024 at 12:05:33 Joe, other than the Villa away game earlier this season when Michael Keane largely contributed to the 4-0 scoreline, no other team has really annihalted us for a side which is average at best.Arsenal play a brand of football which is entertaining on eyes. A brand I wish to see us play one day. It's in a motto right? Chris Williams 42 Posted 24/04/2024 at 13:32:44 Forest appeal being heard today I believe. Anybody thinking what I'm thinking? Pete Hughes 43 Posted 24/04/2024 at 13:40:01 Chris Williams@ 42Yes, 2 pts back to forest and lumped back onto us instead? James Hughes 44 Posted 24/04/2024 at 13:45:34 Chris, I think after Forest's recent whinging. The appeal will be kicked into row Z Brent Stephens 45 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:19:03 Stunning headed goal by De Bryune. Michael Kenrick 46 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:21:04 That was an amazing header, Brent, the vision, the execution, the perfection of contact, power, placement... everything. And all from that distance. Rob Halligan 47 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:27:15 Foden makes it 2. Bit of a soft free kick though, as Foden seemed to slip over. Michael Kenrick 48 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:28:57 Strange one... why did Brighton not put men behind the City players in the wall? Still, wise after the event, I suppose. Paul Ferry 49 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:33:07 Imagine having Foden in your team. Brent Stephens 50 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:34:56 Not looking good for a certain other team who lost this week. Michael Kenrick 51 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:35:26 Oh dear, three in 33 minutes. Rob Halligan 52 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:35:38 Foden again. But what the fuck are Brighton doing, playing around in their own area until one pass too many, and eventually losing the ball for Foden stroke home. John Keating 53 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:37:09 Brighton trying to do a Man City and failing miserably... Michael Kenrick 54 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:38:47 Rob, I think it was the young kid, Valetin Barco, on his debut who gave it away. Can't help thinking of all the wisdom you have posted about young players not being ready for the massive step up to the Premier League but maybe I'm reading too much into it. Paul Ferry 55 Posted 25/04/2024 at 20:39:41 Awful, comical from Brighton. Great finish.5 more points for my FLP team. I'm top of the ToffeeWeb FPL at the moment by 20 points or so, despite not having any shite in my team when all around me do. Paul Ferry 56 Posted 25/04/2024 at 21:23:01 Crap, it's only 1 point now. But the other fella has no one playing today. Paul Ferry 57 Posted 25/04/2024 at 21:25:01 Wonderful from Walker. Rob Halligan 60 Posted 25/04/2024 at 21:31:06 How's that not a penalty for Brighton? Paul Ferry 61 Posted 25/04/2024 at 21:32:39 That's a nailed on pen Paul Ferry 62 Posted 25/04/2024 at 21:33:36 VAR, Unbelievable decision. Michael Kenrick 63 Posted 25/04/2024 at 21:49:50 Tell me I'm wrong but I think the Brighton player ran into/across the City player, when you look from the referee's angle. On VAR, there was no specific movement from the City player that brought him down. He went down far too easily. Good decision all round. Ian Bennett 64 Posted 25/04/2024 at 22:02:43 I don't disagree. However the difference of what is given for handball, penalties, and violent conduct has been vast this season. Absolutely zero consistency. It's impossible to know sometimes if it's a foul, a yellow card or a red. If it's handball, not handball etc. It's a shit show. For me, who was all for getting the right decisions, VAR has proved to be a mess. You can't celebrate Coady scoring, you can't celebrate Calvert-Lewin getting a penalty, and you live in fear of enjoying Branthwaite's. Like PSR, the authorities are ruining football. Brent Stephens 65 Posted 25/04/2024 at 23:22:25 Michael #63 - agree about the non-penalty.
