Everton U19s 1 - 1 AS Roma U19s

Everton U19s take on AS Roma at the 2023 Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe Cup in Obendorf, Germany in a 50-minute lunchtime game today (kick-off 12:45 pm BST).

Sherif broke through on a great through ball in the 3rd minute, shook off the defender who tried to grab his shirt, and fired low into the Roma goal to give Everton a fine early lead.

Roma equalized before half-time.

It all got rather heated at the end after Apter tried to retain the ball and  Roma play ran into his studs, Apter getting a yellow card. But it finished s another draw.

Based on yesterday's experience, the YouTube Channel provides one long live video featuring every one of today's games across the two groups; commentary provided in German.

It looks like temporary squad numbers have been assigned to the youngsters for this tournament, and may help you to follow the plot as their shirts do not bear names.

The full U19 squad with shirt numbers is listed here.

That was a great play. If only the first-team could set-up and finish thusly!

Missed that – my feed keeps stalling.

Why are the Krauts talking Brexit when Everton make a foul!

Hmmm.. they are talking about George Pickford in goal but this is definitely @12 – Douglass Lukjanciks – unless they changed shirts!

Ah, I'll try that...

Sherif stupidly offside there on a great break forward.

I've almost got a chant for Sherif. Based on Rock the Kasbar by The Clash, maybe a bit soon tho, will wait until he's in the first team

Saw Bates go off with Okoronkwo and Apter coming on, perhaps for Maher?

And now another change: Butler on for Van Schoor.

1-1. Stand out player was Sherif, wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench this season for the first team.

Sherif looked quite useful, standout player.
