Ian,

Don't despair. Villa probably have higher priorities this year and may play a weakened side.

Hands up though. I find this competition about as exciting as the FA Cup.

Everton will turn up and do Villa, against the odds in the next round.

I'm taking solace from tonight and the positives from the 2nd half, effort. Credit where due, Everton reacted and won.

Good lesson to take for Saturday, v Sheffield Utd.

Beto, you inspired and gave hope, and delivered. Exceptional spirit and skill!

Viva Beto!

Does draw at 90 minutes and straight to penalties apply in the next round too?

Having said that we're not great at penalties either are we?

Should be a humdinger!

Villa still are owed for '77, with a full-strength improving team, nothing is impossible imho.

Villa 5-0, we go out and concentrate on our struggling Premier League form.

We all know it, play the kids and let's not get embarrassed again.

Danny, Rob, et al, forget those tickets for Villa Park lads, you're wasting your time along with the other thousands of Evertonians, who might be considering traveling to Birmingham.

Justin has spoken and he says it won't end at all well – best sit at home and rant away on the live forum, you know it makes sense.

Billy (5),

We had our revenge for ‘77 in the 1984 semi-final.

Barry agreed, Also. Hate all this “it’s a Mickey Mouse Cup” let’s concentrate on our league form nonsense, the cups should go hand in hand with the League, we should always be aiming to win a cup, otherwise what’s the point?

John...I want the fuckers put to the sword like, a Brighton type performance would do me fine and, with our new "possible" forward line, that is now doable!

The easiest Pot to win and you wanna gib it Justin!?... sigh. Also, name another Cup were we can fuck up in a Semi-Final and still make it to Wembley!

What winning (finally) this Competition can lead us to... that is the real point, Blues!

John#8 - Unusually for me, I ended up on the pitch at Villa after the 2nd leg, and picked up a fortune in coins from the penalty area.

Villa? League Cup? Its personal. It still hurts all those years ago..
Turn them over. The game is about winning silverware, being winners so just beat them on their own ground.. I don't care if we park the bus and win on penalties..

When did those midland pricks, Villa get Monchi? Bad that. Third on my list of utterly detestable football clubs/clueless fans.

Christine,& Nick, deliverance, will happen. This game, is the start.

Goes back to 1984, and beyond, and numerous games in the last few decades when Everton, have been badly burnt, by the Mr Magoos, of Club of match officials, and media officials.
