Dobbin had been out of action since mid-March with an ankle injury sustained in training but took the next step towards regaining full fitness with a 68-minute run-out at Pride Park. Everton, with three players who were on the bench for the senior side on Saturday in the line-up in the form of Lewis Warrington, Jenson Metcalfe and Mackenzie Hunt, fell behind after 18 minutes. They were trying to get back into the contest in the second half when the Rams' U21s scored again in the 73rd and 76th minutes to put the game to bed. Disclaimer () John Raftery 1 Posted 29/04/2024 at 23:04:15 I know it's about development but, based on results, our pool of talent at U21 level looks very shallow. Last time I looked, the top five clubs in the PL2 table were all from London. The RS were 6th. Mike Hayes 2 Posted 01/05/2024 at 14:44:31 Hopefully Dobbin is given time next season if he's not sold. Not a lot of first-team potential came out of the U21s/U23s even when they won the Premier League 2 and the Premier League Cup.It's been posted elsewhere that, if the academy is not producing talent for the first team, what's the point in having it? All down to costing, which is something we will have to drastically reduce given the situation Kenwright and Moshiri have us in. Here's hoping it all get sorted before we start next season and the final season at Goodison Park. Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 3 Posted 01/05/2024 at 20:51:39 I think the spend on the U16s, U18s, U21s and the Ladys are excluded from PSR calculations, but we do still have to fund it.
