Season › 2024-25 › General Forum Support Multibank at the Merseyside derby By Kelly Hogarth 06/12/2024 1 Comments [Jump to last] Following the success of drives at Spurs and Newcastle United, The Multibank is hosting a donation drive ahead of the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park on Saturday. The donation drive is designed to get hygiene products in to the hands of those most in need across Merseyside this Christmas, as hygiene poverty is driving significant school absence and social withdrawal. For 46% of households, washing detergent is considered a luxury item on the shopping list, rising in cost at a rate of 41.6% in just 3-years. 42% of households are without deodorant. 400,000 are without soap or toothpaste. And with school staff recognising the isolation, withdrawal and bullying that is developing as a result, they are spending approximately £40 million of their own money to support pupils, purchasing soap, toiletries, and detergent as a means to counter divisiveness in the classroom. With 2-in-3 staff expecting the level of hygiene poverty to increase in their school in the coming year, and with key workers’ mental health affected as they attempt to navigate the daily complexities that hygiene poverty presents, The Multibank has designed its 2024 campaign to get soap, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes in the hands of those most in need, ensuring that our young people start the day the right way, free of fear, anxiety, and judgement. We would love it if you would consider rallying your following to gift a soap, a shower gel, a deodorant, a toothpaste, and/or a toothbrush on Saturday, popping an extra one in their pocket en route to the stadium. The smallest gesture could make the biggest difference to a young person in need this Christmas. We are joining the Fans Supporting Foodbanks drop by the Fan Zone on the corner of Goodison Road from 9:30am. Disclaimer () Paul Kernot 3 Posted 10/12/2024 at 22:35:28 Well done highlighting that, Kelly. It's so easy to become detached from harsh realities in many families, bullying & ridicule being a knock-on effect for innocent kids. The challenge, as always with this kind of project, is ensuring the money is spent on what it's supposed to be spent on.
