Manchester City U21s 5 - 0 Everton U21s

Everton Under-21s came unstuck at Manchester City on Sunday afternoon after Charlie Whitaker was sent off at the end of the first half and the remaining 10 men didn't stand a chance.

The team featured Jamaal Baptiste, who is on trial.

Early on, George Pickford did well to save a well-struck angled shot from former Everton youngster Emilio Lawrence, who then should have scored midway through the first-half.

But Pickford the Younger could do little to stop the home side scoring twice before the break.

Things got worse for Everton in first-half added time when Whitaker was sent-off. He had already been booked for a foul and was shown a second yellow for an alleged dive inside the City penalty area.

City scored 3 more in the second half against the 10 men of Everton.

Everton U21s: G Pickford, Dixon, Baptiste, Welch, Butler (81' O Samuels-Smith), Butterfield (68' J Patterson), Armstrong, Heath, Whitaker, Benjamin (81'  Barker), Sherif, (45' Bates).

Subs not Used: Barnsley.

Players sent off in both U18s and U21s in heavy defeats against City.

Not a great weekend for Everton Football Club.

Baptiste is an interesting one… very highly rated at West Ham and I think he made a full game debut at 18 or 19? Not someone that can fix the back end now, but might be an interesting longer term project.

Jamaal Baptiste is apparently a free agent.

Formerly from West Ham then moved to Man City last summer. Left West Ham because he felt he had outgrown academy football. City shipped him off to Lommel in Belgium where he played 3 games. City then released him in the summer.

He has off-field issues and a few health problems but used to be highly thought of.
