Jordan Pickford becomes equal second in the list of capped England goalkeepers, matching Joe Hart and David James with 75.

He told ITV: “It is a privileged position being England number one. A proud moment for me but hopefully more to come.

“We need to finish this week with another win. We have to expect the unexpected but we need to put on a performance.”

But Pickford may well get flack for a mix-up with Gueuhi that almost let Latvia score. 

After a lot of probing and threatening attacks, England finally took the lead on 39 minutes through a brilliantly executed free-kick from Chelsea's Reece James. 

It took another half-hour of play before Harry Kane finally sealed the win, getting swiftly on the end of Declan Rice's sharp low cross. Eze came on and soon made it 3-0.

England: Pickford, James, Konsa, Guehi, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Rogers, Bellingham, Bowen, Rashford, Kane.

He'll never get the recognition he deserves. Best modern era English goalkeeper by a mile.

I've always thought Phil Foden was the most over hyped player of his generation.

Good player but no where near the pedestal his plaudits and Pep put him on.

These games against opposition like this are just a waste of time although one player who would be at home with them is Rashford.

The amount of passes he got and squandered was unbelievable. No left foot and most of his right foot crosses were so poor I lost count.

It took a great dead ball kick by James to finally break a chaotic Latvian rearguard in the absence of any offence whatsoever by Latvia.

Tuchel at the moment seems to be throwing cards in the air to see what lands but so far nothing to get excited about.

Let's get back to the Prem.

Lets Tom, but still 9 days mate. Strictly speaking, I suppose, that was not a waste of time as it was a WC qualifier. But what on earth did unheimlich aussehend Tommy learn from those 2 games against 65th and 140th in the world other than who is crap and who is crappier?

At my brothers 50th on Saturday night Paul. My lad went to Liverpool 1 with his girl Sunday, I met them after in Baltic Market.

Went the first test event, wont go now until the season starts. Saw a couple of blues after, who said leaving and walking towards town was a bit of a mare with the iron bridge etc.

Watched a bit of Friday's match but skipped today, visiting my sister in Providenciales and the turtles were way more interesting than what I saw Friday. A win's a win though!

Got some great turtle pics today, wish I could post a couple here. Amazing creatures.

Liam, I think that walk from town to the dock is being treated a little lightly by some for whom it is not too much of a stretch. It would be a struggle for many at the best of times and that is not a windy rainy day in November. Let's hope that bars, cafes, and food trucks continue to grow once we hit the dock road. That exposed stretch before the wall will not be pleasant, even for Danny O and Mark M!

Actually, more than anything, I'm looking forward to your August posts Liam, when it is no longer a one-fifth or one-half full ground with loads leaving early and it is not Sunday but a Saturday when town is buzzing.

Playing for defensively poor clubs from the start of his career OUR Jordan has WON 75 caps.

That to me means he's an outstanding goalie.

Yes, we all revere our several other great goalies but almost all of them, if not ALL, played in teams of skill and threat to any opposition at all - completely unlike OUR Jordan.

We should cherish him.

Firstly, congratulations to Jordan. That is a great individual achievement. And barring the odd brain fart moment (tell me a keeper that doesn't have them), he's saved us on more than one occasion these last few seasons.

I'll agree with Don. You often gauge and good keeper, and defenders for that matter, better when in poorly performing teams,

I always cite David Seaman. Personally, and it's an opinion, I didn't think he was that great. He just played behind one of the tightest defences in recent generations at Arsenal. He was well protected.

A pretty dire match again. England must have the easiest stroll in the park towards qualification, which is a given.

I can see it now. Win an easy group easily and there will be frenzy that they are going to win the World Cup. The Golden Generation of the 2000s has been replaced with a documentary about "England Lions: The Next Generation". It's on Amazon Prime, so get used to that phrase.

Well, let's wait and see when they come up against better opposition.

I should apologise as I have little interest in England and don't follow any particular nation on the international stage. I just watch the matches.

Spot on Don (25). The best English keeper of the last twenty years, There is no one right now who is anywhere near his class: Ramsdale? Pope? Henderson FFS? I pray that he has another 4-5 years in him for us.

Some of the papers only gave Pickford 5 or 6/10 because he had nothing to do; obviously, that was his fault.

Guehi also got low marks and that was Pickford's fault too. They hate him.

May be in a minority of one but for blowing up someone’s backside and hyping a player up, I think Jude Bellingham beats both Foden and Grealish
