The Everton Megastore

The Everton Megastore should be a thriving and throbbing merchandising outlet for Everton's commercial fare; it isn't.

 BASIC DETAILS

The Everton MegastoreLocation:  Corner of Walton Lane and Goodison Road.

Opening Hours:  Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.

Phone Number:  (0151) 330-2030  (shop enquiries only)

Parking:  Outside the Megastore (except on matchdays)

 THINGS TO BUY

The Megastore should be the place for all your Everton merchandise requirements, replica kits, tracksuits, shirts, mousepads, pens, scarves, hats, etc.  Also, it should be a good place to get current Books, Videos and Tapes & CDs featuring Everton FC and their players.

In all honesty, the much trumpetted Megastore is a small, poorly stocked merchandise outlet – another badly missed opportunity by the Everton Commercial department.

Remember to ask for your 5% discount if you are "Seasonal Member" (Everton-speak for Season Ticket Holder) or an official Everton Supporters Club member! – you will need to quote your membership number.

A RECENT LETTER FROM THE NEW COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Dear Mr Fox

I am the Commercial Manager at Everton and I joined the Club in August [2001] with responsibility for improving all merchandising/commercial activities relating to the store, mail order and e-commerce sections of Everton.

Any clubs commercial outlets are there to help fund on the field activities and as you rightly point out Everton have fallen behind in comparison to many other clubs.  Several factors are vital to improving and achieving commercial success.  A good range of quality merchandise is needed and improvements are being made but it will take time to design, select and source these products.

Some progress has been made over the last few months with the introduction of a new leisure range for men, women and children.  There is still much to do but by the end of this season I can assure you we will have a much improved range of merchandise.

Investigating our fans/customers needs is also imperative to being able to provide goods and services that people want.  To this end a customer survey is planned for March/April which will give us valuable information and feedback.

I have also spent considerable time looking at other club shops and also general sport retailers and the lessons I have learnt will be used to improve many areas including layout, visual merchandising and customer service.

Finally one of my prime objectives is to secure a Liverpool City Centre site which I am sure will dramatically increase our fans ability to purchase Everton merchandise and will open Everton to a wider public beyond our matchday supporters.  At this point I am unable to put a timeframe on when a City Centre outlet might open but I can assure you I am actively looking for suitable sites.

May I thank you for your e-mail and your continued support of Everton Football Club.  If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully

Guy Buzzard
